2023.06.08 09:25 Raven_court 31 [M4F] Italy/Anywhere - Looking for people worldwide! Hit me up with the most interesting fact about your city
Hello, welcome to my silly post.
The title states quite clearly what I am looking for, but I'll add a bit about me:
I am an introvert with an incredible drive to learn about the wonders of our world, and the pinnacle of everything to me is the exchange of knowledge between individuals, your inner world can change so much each time it collides with someone else's world.
I love intellectual discussions but enjoy just chit-chatting as well, I have been told that I am a great listener.
My hobbies are mostly on the nerdy side of things, so the usual reading, gaming, watching movies and tv shows, and so on. I also like to cook, bake and hike.
I'm open to casual friendly chats or even flirty endeavors, we only live once after all.
I'm going to keep this short and wait for your reply, feel free to ask me anything!

2023.06.08 09:24 Spectral_Coen0 Fallout TV Series Information :)
Here's everything we know about the upcoming live action adaption of "Fallout" by Bethesda Studios for Amazon Prime soon to be released as well:
The series showrunner Jonathan Nolan is a huge passionate fan of the franchise, and is going to be the man responsible for leading the series after his previous work on the divisive but fan favorite series "Westworld" on HBO which had a star studded cast
Our lead main protagonist will be a ghoul who will be portrayed by iconic actor Walton Goggins who we've seen perform brilliantly in Justified, Westworld, as well as Sons Of Anarchy :)
Kyle Mclaughlin from Twin Peaks is set to be a recurring main character for the series but his role hasn't been revealed yet. Take your guess really?
The show will be using mostly practical effects for the sets, props, outfits, makeup and the aspects that can't be done in practical effects will have enhanced cgi to touch up on those special effects.
Fans have already spotted the NCR logo on some flags in behind the set photos, a ghoul wearing a vault 32 uniform with a cowboy hat and some massive practical effect Brotherhood Of Steel armor
Johnathon Nolan has said the series will capture the awe and wonder of the franchise with the alternate history technology side of a new 50s Era but will also keep the darkly comical, and strange sense of humor the series is quite known for too.
Johnathon Nolan and the creative team have been given free reigns by Amazon Prime and the team at Bethesda to go as bonkers, insane, creative and at times horrifying and gruesome as they want to with the series. They want to make sure they capture the vibe and tone of the series accurately to it all.
No word on if Ron Pearlman who's been a franchise mainstay in the Fallout Universe since the first title has a role or any sign of part for the TV series tbh. It would be kind of strange not to have him in the TV series since he's a huge part of the games also.
I'm thinking that they might show a teaser or trailer for the TV adaption on an anniversary date of the franchise or possibly at a gaming digital event.
Ghouls will be fully developed in terms of makeup, and practical effects. They have slightly enhanced cgi to make some more elements fully develop.
In one of the behind the scenes photos you can see a fully functioning pipboy on a vault dwellers arm which lights up, and has all the iconic parts.
Super Duper Mart and Red Rocket Station sets have been fully developed accurately to the games.
The narrative of the series will be an original story within the universe of the games. They didn't want to adapt any of the games narratives so that it can stand out on its own for new audiences but to also entertain and surprise the long fans of the series.
Vault 32 will be the main vault being used for the TV series.
Fingers crossed that a "Gary" homage or tribute will be added to the series because that would be so much fun and absolutely hilarious for audiences.

2023.06.08 09:21 MaverickPrime ROTB opinion with as few spoilers as possible, but tagged as spoilers in case you really wanna go in blind.
I loved it! The Transformers REALLY did feel like fully alive characters, they conveyed emotion in their voices, body language and actions, the humans were actually kinda charming and important to the plot without feeling too forced, the Terrorcons were a great threat, the action was cool, there were MANY amazing transformation sequences fully on display and the score was great.
I however had 2 nitpicks, not directly spoilers but more of a general comment:
While most Cybertronians had a lot of character, Battletrap and Nightbird barely even spoke and Rhinox and Cheetor were just... There, but they had A LOT of characters to juggle, so those not being as fleshed out isn't so bad.
The trailers and TV spots showed A LOT, waaaay more than they should've, i suppose they wanted to create as much hype as possible seeing how a lot of people dismissed this and Bumblebee due to TLK still having lasting damage on the general audiences, but they gave away way too much, it hurts the experience

2023.06.08 09:20 echodeck Annette (2021): Leos Carax and Sparksâ musical is meta as hell. Itâs a movie about its own screenwriting process - the fate of the characters mirror the creative decisions of the filmmakers. Itâs about the sacrifices required to make a true tragedy.
OK, so this takes some explaining, but hopefully itâs worth your time. Spoilers, obvs.
In 2021, Leos Carax released his debut English language movie, written by Ron and Russell Mael of Art-Pop legends Sparks and starring Adam Driver, Marion Cotillard and Simon Helberg. It received great acclaim, winning several awards, but also left many cold. Itâs such an odd film, but thereâs a fantastic explanation as to why itâs such a difficult movie.
There are two stories running in parallel. One is that of the comedian, the opera singer and their gifted child. The other is the story of how the filmmakers wrote this movie. Itâs an allegory for its own creative process.
The character Annette is the movie Annette, and her three parents are different elements of the screenwritersâ creativity. Henry McHenry, played by Adam Driver, is Sparksâ humour and pop sensibility. The accompanist, played by Simon Helberg, is their musical talent. Ann Defrasnoux, played by Marion Cotillard, is their genius.
These charactersâ fates determine what kind of movie this will be, and it doesnât end well for any of them.
Iâve made a video that lays out the evidence for this -
https://youtu.be/36ExvkMIipU. Part 2 is coming soon.
For those that donât know, Sparks have made funny and catchy pop music for almost 50 years, influencing artists as wide ranging as Bjork, Beck, Sex Pistols, Erasure and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, making great music to this day yet somehow have remained obscure.
Leos Carax said this about this about his collaboration with Sparks: âWe had 80 songs and only kept 42. There were many versions of every song, depending on where the story was going.â
So during the 8 years of development, pieces were added, removed and altered, and this concept is embedded into the movie itself. If you look at the quotations, additional music and archival movie footage used throughout, something interesting connects it: thereâs an uncanny number of references to creative works that were changed into something different, moving it beyond from the artistâs initial vision. Just like âAnnetteâ.
*âThe Crowdâ by King Vidor This movie from 1928 is used during a montage of Annâs performances. Its original release was delayed because the movie studio was displeased at the lack of a happy ending. At their insistence, seven alternative happy endings were filmed.
âTill the clouds roll byâ While Henry is babysitting, the TV shows a musical number from this 1946 Judy Garland movie. The song, âDâye love meâ, was filmed by a different director (her husband Vincente Minnelli) but then cut from the final movie.
âOceansâ Footage is used from this French nature documentary which was distributed by Disney Pictures. The final cut had 20 minutes of violent footage removed to make it palatable to a young audience.
âRogue oneâ We see this playing at a cinema while Henry rides past on his motorcycle. The Star Wars spin-off had extensive reshoots with new scenes, including a new soundtrack and ending.
âSnow White and the Seven Dwarfsâ There are several visual parallels between âAnnetteâ and the first feature-length Disney movie. It was originally conceived as a comedy piece, with a continuous run of jokes from the dwarfs. In later drafts, scenes were removed in order to focus more on Snow White and the Evil Queen, and less on the comic relief.
âThe Night of the Hunterâ The shot of Annâs body falling to the depths of the ocean calls back to this 1955 American Thriller. The screenplay was by James Agee, based on his own book, but director Charles Laughton rewrote most of the script without credit. This was partly because the story features an evil preacher, highly controversial at the time, so the changes were made so that he would appear unordained.
âBluebeards Castleâ This opera was completed in 1911, but not taken seriously because of its single act structure. It was modified in 1912 and a new ending added in 1917.
âNational Brotherhood Weekâ by Tom Lehrer This is the song that goes âand the Catholics hate the Muslims, and the Muslims hate the Catholicsâ. The musical satirist would often update the jokes in his songs at live performances.
âSymphony No. 2â by Gustav Mahler This was composed reusing elements of the composerâs first symphony,
âOtelloâ by Verdi This was written between 1879 and 1887. Many drafts exist between the libretto first being written and its completion, with notes and letter published showing the evolution of the work as the music demanded changes to the text and vice versa.
âCarmenâ by Bizet This was altered several times during the rehearsal for the first performance. As such, the vocal score from March 1875 shows significant changes from the version of the score sold to the publishers, which is in turn different to the orchestral score. Nobody knows which version was originally performed.
âMadam Butterflyâ by Puccini First completed in 1904, this was withdrawn after a disastrous premiere. In total Puccini wrote five versions of this opera.
âNormaâ by Bellini When composing this opera, Bellini wanted it to be performed by star soprano Giuditta Pasta. To entice her, he offered to retouch or even change the character completely to suit her.
âSymphony No. 4â by Brahms The debut performance was a scaled-down preview played on two pianos to a small audience of friends. Despite going on to be a classic, it was panned by the audience, with critic Eduard Hanslick describing it as âbeing given a beating by two incredibly intelligent peopleâ.
âLa traviataâ by Verdi This opera was envisioned in a contemporary setting, but the authorities insisted it be set in the past.
âMother Courage and her Childrenâ by Bertold Bretch This 1941 play includes the quotation âWar is like love, it always finds a wayâ, which likely serves as inspiration for âTrue love always finds a wayâ. For itâs second production in 1949, Brecht revised the play to make Mother Courage less sympathetic, because despite rave reviews, he felt that critics misunderstood the piece.*
These works arenât necessarily being evoked because of their stories or themes, but because of how they were changed. Leos Carax and Sparks are showing us that the movie weâre watching is inextricably tied to the method used in creating it. In other words, itâs not just an incidental bit of trivia that âAnnetteâ had several drafts, itâs core to the understanding of the movie.
With the release of the Unlimited Edition of the soundtrack album, Sparks gave some insight into a previous draft, and it helps us to better understand the final movie. It includes a handful of demos and unused songs which show a very different trajectory for Henry McHenry. Instead of destroying his career by offending his audience, heâs instead met with indifference because falling in love and having a child has taken away his edge as a performer. We therefore know that Henryâs comedy routines were rewritten, and this fact can be used to explain a lot.
The title of Henryâs show is The Ape of God. This is a term for Satan that originated from the Middle Ages, meaning that he impersonates (or apes) godly things to make people do evil. Encyclopaedia Britannica describes it as âan evil who attempts to imitate God through spurious, malicious creations that he interpolates for the divine creationsâ. The word âinterpolateâ means âto insert something (of a different nature) into something elseâ, which is what the screenwriters are doing by reworking these scenes. The Henry McHenry that we see isnât the character as originally envisioned - heâs a rewrite, and this explains the uncomfortable anti-comedy of his routines.
One of Sparksâ defining characteristics is humour, with a distinctive style of wit thatâs been a constant presence in their music throughout the decades. Their songs feature colourful characters and clever pop-culture references, but with âAnnetteâ they go in the opposite direction, filling it with sadness at every turn. If you look back through Sparksâ catalogue of songs, finding something without an element of joy or humour is rare. Theyâre a âfunâ band, but that element of fun is mostly missing in âAnnetteâ - this is fundamentally different to the Sparks weâve seen before.
This was explained by Leos Carax when asked how the movie was reshaped from Sparksâ original screenplay.
âThe only changes I made were with the writing. It was only a storyline without characters. The brothers live in this Sparks bubble, which is pop fantasy. There was a lot of irony. Irony in a cinema is a danger, I think. It has a tendency to make everything less crucial, less real. Itâs a bit too easy for cinema, especially today. I had to make that irony into something else. We had to really create Henry as a character.â
Hereâs the theory: Ron and Russell wrote a comedy that was true to Sparks, then employed Leos Carax to impose restrictions on the rewriting process. These were the changes necessary for the band to achieve their dream of making a true art house tragedy.
I still have lots more to share on this, but in the meantime Iâd love your thoughts.

2023.06.08 09:17 PureKalon Signs I Shouldâve Walked Away Sooner
Hi ladies, I went through a massive 10 year relationship break-up about a month ago and looking for some comforting energy and feel good vibes.
The relationship started off well and we were in our early-to-mid 20âs, so everything was filled with fun adventure and plenty of new experiences. From beginning to middle, it was an amazing relationship. My ex-partner was generous, sweet, attentive, supportive, and affectionate. He became my confidante and best friend. He used to invest a good amount of quality time with me and thatâs what I will always love and miss most about him. I always appreciated him covering for me for expensive dinners and activities, but I honestly really loved him most for the time we spend together and the simple things like his well-written cards. My ex-partner never wanted to get married as he believed it was archaic, stemmed from sexist values (giving away the bride as property from one man to another), etc. Although I wanted to get married, I found it more important to be with someone I love and not to force something like this upon him. He told me we are partners for life and will do a âcommitment ceremonyâ together to symbolize our love with our loved ones once we stabilize our relationship more. I believed him.
There was not one major event that caused the demise of our relationship. Things gradually gone downhill and looking back, I feel stupid. I feel stupid for not seeing how the man I loved changed into someone who no longer cared for me. I feel stupid for psyching myself out of seeing red flags and ignoring my bad gut feelings over and over again. Here is a list of things I see clearly now that were bad signs:
- Addiction - His default activity coming home is gaming. He could game for hours and lose track of time. He could game until 5AM. There were many, many occasions when weâd talk about going to the gym or somewhere like 2-3 hours later, but heâd get so caught up in his gaming. Whenever weâre about to go out, heâd take any excuse to game, such as when I am changing or just needing to go pee. Iâd end up taking 2 minutes, but I still have to wait a good 15-20 min for him to finish his game before we can leave. Worse part is heâd get really ticked off if I happened to have distracted him in his game. My cats and I get scared when he yells during the games.
- Emotionally Unavailable - He progressively became less and less willing to have the hard talks. I became the only one who wanted to progress and improve our relationship. I tried to do my best to find better times to talk, but there was never a good time to talk anymore. He became dismissive of my feelings and thoughts. He consistently stonewalled me, gaslit me, and was incapable of having productive conversations and work as a team. Talking to him about things like feeling distant from him was useless.
- No Longer a Priority - I was no longer a priority nor a top option, I became a last resort in his life. He chose to prioritize his time with work, colleagues and friends. I could tell he didnât want to hangout with me. Weekly date nights ceased to exist.
- Disrespect - He hurt my feelings a lot and crossed my personal boundaries. He compromised my values and feelings for himself and his own selfishness.
- Lack of Attention - He no longer made time for us to bond. He didnât listen to me half the time. Whenever I tried to talk to him, heâd occupy himself with one of the three screens: phone, computer, or the tv. Worse part is, he stopped looking at me.
- Lack of Appreciation - I did a lot around the house and took care of our cats. I did little things for him as well and he never thanked me anymore or showed any appreciation for my efforts.
- Other People Raised Concerns - Friends, colleagues, and family from both sides made remarks. A lot of people thought I over compromised myself too often for him. Friends felt uncomfortable seeing him put me down. People said I was flexible for him while he was unyielding and dominating. Some people thought I deserved better, disliked him, and thought he was both a terrible partner and unlikable person. My mom questioned whether he still loved me.
- Living like a Bachelor - We no longer lived as a couple, but as roommates and just landlord and tenant. He went to all optional work happy hours or as many as he could. He hung out with colleagues late into midnight or past midnight, and it even led into the weekdays. I was left with most household chores and became primary parent to our cats.
- No Longer Cares About My Values - I was always upfront about my values and he no longer made an effort. I asked for cards, but heâd just buy me an expensive gadget. My family rarely visits us, and he knows I value time with them a lot and for him to bond with them more. He stopped making time and effort for them.
- He Wonât Fight For Us - He said we are lifetime partners, but he gave up on us so easily when the relationship got hard, was no longer as fun or convenient for him and his life. He refused to go into counseling. I fought relentlessly for us.
In the end, after a decade together he said he did not want to be in a relationship at this time and rather focus on himself. I put so much of my heart, commitment, dedication, and faith into this supposed lifetime relationshipâŠonly to have this man tap out in the ring when I was going to fight forever for us.

2023.06.08 09:14 MajorParticular4841 All of Gusâ surveillance was revealed to be sent directly to his laptop at The chicken brothers restaurant where him and Walt first met.. any cyber security ppl care to weigh in?
I have a bachelors of science in cyber security and I feel (with my limited knowledge since a bachelors in IT is nothing and you need certification to prove it): âJust use a magnetâ
Gus having everything sent to a laptop?? No additional back up? How is that smart security wise? With all the money he had, being able to employ smart, âinnocentâ people like gale, did Gus mess up having everything go to just a laptop? Having one storage I guess would be ideal in terms of damage control. Less evidence in that sense.
In a real world, there would be many backups/RAIDS to prevent a situation with âMAGNETSâ destroying all the evidence, and having more than one back up (not just his little laptop). Unless thereâs more magnets to destroy the evidence.. That would be messed up
âWhat about a mag-â
I love this show. I didnât watch any other show for years after I finished it because breaking bad showed me how amazing Tv Shows can be. Maybe Iâm just picky
âyah what about a magnetâ
Would a secondary backup location have been smart?
Also why is Skylar tearing up when she sees that loser Ted in a head brace for the first time in the hospital? I feel bad for her and then i dont because of situations like that idiot Ted. Watch where you walk, buddy, and maybe pay your taxes.
I dont know where this is going, I know nothing about magnets, or cyber security.

2023.06.08 09:06 privacypussypasta1 Does a Glare of Irresistible Doubt hang over the future?
Brief of my situation: I gave a 6 hour long exam with a range of vast subjects like Mass Media & Communication, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Legal Studies, English and General Test (which basically contains Current Affairs, Maths, Logical Reasoning). Imagine me as 19 year old. There are major universities here, which can be compared to some of the best IvyâLeague Universities. So, here's this thing that logically my mind says, I should go with Law & become a lawyer (I have an extremely strong family background in law, have plans for applying to various internships, ranges from United Nations to International Court of Justice/ International Criminals Court). My heart goes for Mass Media, Journalism and all sorts of Media Communication courses (I'm known to little to no person who can help me in that field of career, but I love it and possibly everything about Movies, TV Shows etc). I completed my high school with Biology, so I'm cool with doing an academic course like BSc., but I do not like science at all. It'll be a waste of my time, personally. My results are pending, it's due for 3rd week of June.

2023.06.08 09:03 suppernood I just finished watching episode 7 of season 6 of the TV show Better Call Saul. I hate Jimmy.
I was shocked to see Howard die. He didn't deserve that because he's fundamentally a good person. It's only because of Jimmy's selfishness and Kim's corruption that this happened. Jimmy and Kim might be the two characters I hate the most in the Breaking Bad universe, apart from Skyler. The way Jimmy and Kim have devolved compared to Walter White is disgusting because they are lawyers themselves but still deliberately trample on the law. Jimmy really deserves a lifetime of running away from the law. Additionally, I'm very grateful to Vince Gilligan for creating this fantastic show.

It really makes me think when Rick jokes about the canon of the show among other things he has to say. Mr. Poopy Butthole appears at the end of an episode, and he just finished watching the episode. Could this Mr. Poopy Butthole be in another universe where Rick and Morty is on TV? Perhaps Rick portals himself into that universe quite often to watch the show himself, which is why he keeps making jokes that make it so obvious that he knows he's on TV.
