my dad passed away 10 days ago and the past 2 days have been the worst i’ve felt yet. I cant stop myself from crying and feeling so angry that I only got 22 years with him. I’m angry other people get to have their dads with them throughout their lives and I don’t. I’m angry my 9 year old brother had his daddy taken from him. yesterday broke me down so hard i don’t know how to function today. my brother saw a shooting star while we were sitting outside together and i stupidly asked him if he made a wish. he told me he made a wish we all wanted. he wanted to tell me what it was so he whispered to me “i wish daddy would come back” this is the first time he’s shown his sadness to me since he passed and my heart is hurting so bad it feels like it’s going to explode. i don’t even care about myself at this point, but watching the other people i love suffer is killing me. i’m trying so hard to be strong especially for my brother but all i want to do is lock myself away. i’m the only one in my family who has been crying and showing my grief outwardly and I’m trying my best to tone it down but it is so hard. my dad and i were the emotional and dramatic ones in our family lol. sorry for the long vent. to anyone going through the loss of a parent, i’m wishing you peace i really really hope there is some light at the end of this.

So I have a character idea for a whip wielding sorc/rogue pirate, the catches are I want to start as a sorc for backstory purposes. Will be mostly rogue, maybe 3-4 levels of sorcerer by the end and no more multiclassing.
So far I’ve come up with the below, trying to be flavourful with choices but also don’t want to suck for the rest of the group.
Custom lineage with weapon master feat for whip prof also giving the option of +1 to dex, will likely only go 14 cha as not a fan of fully dumping 3 stats. So 16 Dex, 16 Con, 14 Cha with race.
Draconic sorc for the 13+dex AC and extra HP, so will only start 1 down when compared with starting rogue and have a reasonable 16 AC with no armour.
Swashbuckler rogue because it fits the pirate nature but also can use sneak attack in an alternate way, don’t really want to be in melee either so could slip away too.
Spells, booming blade and a ranged cantrip for utility, would likely take lightening lure, gust or shape water for flavour. 1st - shield and maybe absorb elements for defence, no silvery barbs. Love the idea of blur as level 2 spell eventually.
I know this isn’t super optimal and fighter with magic initiate would likely be a better start. But is this as optimal as it can be? and Is this viable without being a liability? Any other suggestions given the restrictions?

Then, statistics will show how the house price is stable or not going down, perpetuating this nonsensical cycle.

I’m a 5/10 Live player & would call myself Tight-Aggressive. I’m not a big fan of bluffing but have bluffed here and there with blockers or C-bet in position but would say like at 5% frequency, but most of these pots were small, never were more than 50 BB pots.
Scenario 1: I’ve been wanting to bluff for a long time. Game I played last Saturday was a 5/10 game with a lot of regulars & pretty much know all of them, most are NITs. Opponent in my hand was known to make huge lay downs. So he would fold AA to a check raise on wet boards, would fold straights on river when a back door flush hits Murli-way etc. players love to bluff him.
Starting stack : 7500$ . I had AKdd , I open UTG to 30, opponent 3-bets on Button to 75, I 4-bet to 225 & he calls. Flop A106 , I c-bet 150 & he calls 150. Turn 6, I bet 350, he calls 350. River 9, dint change a lot, I bet 400 for thin value & he raised me to 1000. If he raises on the river he pretty much has effective nuts, not nuts but atleast 3rd nuts or a better hand than mine. I knew he dint have AA as I block them , wasn’t calling 66 pre-flop to a 4-bet as I opened UTG. I felt he had 1010 & thought if I jam here he should fold 1010 or AK if he had in case for a 3X pot jam on river. With 6500 behind , I took few seconds & said “I’m all in!” Representing AA. I was saying I have the 2nd nuts AA full of 66s. He tanked for 2 minutes & said, u really have AA huh 🤔! It is what it is & ended up calling his whole stack which is 3000 behind with 1000 already in. I said “You have it “ & he showed pocket 1010s & won the pot with 1010s full of 66.
Scenario 2: I had AdQs on Jd10d7c3s8d run out. I had perfect blockers for nut flush & nut straight. It went XBet to me on river & I raised 2X pot on river & guy made a crying call with Q9o, he had nut straight.
After these 2 bluffs I said I’m not touching my money 😂

Hi, we are a couple who have adopted two cats. They are 8 months old and we got them when they were six months. They are not spayed and we are waiting for them to get comfortable with us completely before spaying them.
And thats the thing! Mia is scared of us. She circles around the sofa constantly. She runs away if our paths cross while walking around the house. If she senses us coming, she ll make sure she changes her path and is some distance away, staring at us.
The only way to approach Mia is with treats. Even then she is very very jumpy and we have to stay still as a statue. Any movement, while looking at her or looking away, sudden or slow, she twitches and then walks/ runs away. She doesnt hide under the furniture but stays behind them.
We dread any vet visits because getting her in the carrier is so exhausting for all of us. Any time, we touch the carrier, she simply runs and hides someplace, then we have to coax her out.
She loves to play but if the toy reaches near our legs or near our bodies, she ll slowly turn around and decide not to play anymore.
Maya on the other hand is super comfortable and rubs herself on our legs all the time. She loves pets and demand attention all of the time. She loves door handles and jumps on them to open them. She tries to escape at any opportunity. We figure thats normal and probable because they are young and not spayed.
We have started sitting down with the food bowls at every meal so she can get comfortable with time. Its been 2 months, are our expectations high or is there something we can do to help?

Depending on the time I go to the course, it's not uncommon to have families with children walk through the course. I've even had families walk up/down the fairway while I'm actively on that hole.
I don't really get angered by this, as they have as much of a right to be in this free-to-use public space as I do. So, I never really tell these people off. I just offer a friendly "hello", and politely wait for them to clear the hole. Sometimes people are courteous and clear as soon as they see me. Other times, I have people slowly meander through the entire fairway while I'm sitting their waiting to be able to throw.
My question to you all: do you have a strategy to stop this from getting to your head and "tilting" you? I don't know why, but whenever I get interrupted by a family like this, it just completely takes my head out of the game. Most of the time the course is a peaceful and serene atmosphere with minimal distractions. So, when I have a gaggle of children walking through the hole it just completely destroys my focus. Any tips?

stress triggered bad ibs-d for a month before discovering the low fodmap diet in february. i'd never had any ibs symptoms before in my life. after i switched to eating no/low fodmaps my ibs resolved itself almost completely. I stuck to the diet religiously for around two months, and then began reintroduction, which went incredibly well. For a month and a half now I have been eating absolutely anything I want with virtually no issues. there was one time that i ate way too many rice cakes that contained molasses and it triggered symptoms for a day and a half or so but then i immediately went back to normal and have just avoided molasses.
on tuesday and wednesday of this week I was stuck inside because the air quality in my city was hazardous from the canadian wildfires. one of the only foods i had at home was a granola sweetened with coconut sugar and i ate a ton of it, more than a whole bag :( since then i've had a horrible ibs-d flare for 3 days straight. i've been able to keep food down (like im not immediately rushing to the bathroom) but have had no normal BMs the whole time. in fact it's been as bad/extreme as i've ever experienced. i initially thought it was from stress from the bad air quality/orange colored sky, as stress is what triggered my ibs in the first place. however the longer it's gone on the more i think it has to do with all of that coconut sugar, which i'm assuming is similar to the high quantity of molasses i couldn't tolerate.
I'm flying cross country on monday and i'm super worried this won't be resolved before then. do i need to go back on a low fodmap diet for now? i've been literally 99.9% fine since the start of May so it's hard to imagine having to take these steps back, but i'm really concerned at how long this flare is going on.
any advice would be so appreciated, as i've never experienced such a regression in my symptoms and don't know what this means for me. thank you!!!

Hey guys, i've tried googling this question, but i'm not having much luck finding it. New-ish player here.
I've built a nice mining ship, but i'm having some issues with some things not flowing. I'm 99% sure i've traced the issue to my Azimuth Containers/Tanks (mod). The small ports don't seem to feed if they are butted against each other, without a conveyor tube.
Then it got me thinking - is that true for most small ports on larger items? I know the H20 Generator is designed with a Cockpit in mind, so that works fine. I actually have my new Industrial Cockpit offset down a block via a Conveyer Adapter, the Industrial Cockpit's ports run vertical vs horizontal. I'm assuming this is kosher, but that's another possibility. But I wasn't sure if vanilla Containers, or Conveyer Adapters allowed this as well? Now that I think about it, Cockpits are the only "blocks" i've directly attached without tubes.
I just want to know how far I have to take my new ship apart! Is this just an issue with Azimuth items?

On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced their switch from a free API to a paid level that will effectively kill all third-party apps including Apollo and Narwhal, and many others. Developers will be charged exorbitant amounts to run their apps from July 1, forcing them to shut down as none can reasonably afford to pay sky-high prices within only a month of announcement. Many bots including moderation bots operating across Reddit will also be impacted in the same way.

What's happening?
RhythmHive will be joining 50k (and counting) subreddits in going dark. The community will be set to private so that only approved users may access the subreddit as normal.

Hi: I am hoping to donate a kidney to my sister, who is 61. (I’m 56.)
A little background: Several years ago my sister had bariatric surgery resulting in a significant amount of weight loss, although she still has type 2 diabetes (albeit less severe); I believe her blood pressure is also down significantly. She suffered renal failure in January and has been on dialysis since. Biopsy of kidneys show origin of failure was not diabetes.
I have volunteered to donate a kidney to her. (She has several decades left of her life, and four hours of dialysis three times a week is not a way to live them. Plus, I love her.)
We share the same blood type, and her doctor says it’s likely our tissue will be compatible. She’s undergoing the preliminary tests (EKG, etc.); doc thinks she’ll be cleared by July, at which point I will undergo all needed tests.
I eat fairly healthily right now, although I am a daily wine drinker. (I am planning to cut down.) I do cardio 5x a week and am in good physical shape, although I am attempting to lose about 10 pounds. I’m going to try to get my BMI below 25 over the months preceding the donation.
My primary concerns with donating are about lethargy and weight gain post op, while my concerns about my sister is that she may not alter her behaviors post-op, thus compromising her outcomes and the donated kidney. (The bariatric surgery has led her to eat much less, although her diet has not changed—her main staples are still chocolate and fried food.)
I will soon be seeing a therapist weekly to discuss the potential donation and to alleviate general stress.

Lastly, is it common for renal failure to have no known cause…? Does the pre-donation prep involve any kind of genetic testing that might detect syndromes associated with renal failure…?

A little background: Several years ago my sister had bariatric surgery resulting in a significant amount of weight loss, although she still has type 2 diabetes (albeit less severe); I believe her blood pressure is also down significantly. She suffered renal failure in January and has been on dialysis since. Biopsy of kidneys show origin of failure was not diabetes.
I have volunteered to donate a kidney to her. (She has several decades left of her life, and four hours of dialysis three times a week is not a way to live them. Plus, I love her.)
We share the same blood type, and her doctor says it’s likely our tissue will be compatible. She’s undergoing the preliminary tests (EKG, etc.); doc thinks she’ll be cleared by July, at which point I will undergo all needed tests.
I eat fairly healthily right now, although I am a daily wine drinker. (I am planning to cut down.) I do cardio 5x a week and am in good physical shape, although I am attempting to lose about 10 pounds. I’m going to try to get my BMI below 25 over the months preceding the donation.
My primary concerns with donating are about lethargy and weight gain post op, while my concerns about my sister is that she may not alter her behaviors post-op, thus compromising her outcomes and the donated kidney. (The bariatric surgery has led her to eat much less, although her diet has not changed—her main staples are still chocolate and fried food.)
I will soon be seeing a therapist weekly to discuss the potential donation and to alleviate general stress.

I’m hanging a cat hammock across a window. When I use the hart stud finder and live wire detector it flashes low alert for live wire a couple of times in that area. There is a. Electrical outlet 1 stud down in the middle of that wall. My house was built in 1993-94 in Florida. Am I safe to drill a 1 1/12 inch wood screw into this??

Hello Redditors! I (22 F) am looking for advice regarding declining the request to become my mothers bridesmaid.
My mother and her soon-to-be husband got engaged a few months back and plan on getting married this summer. While I want to be happy for them I don't feel like I can. Just two weeks before their big anouncement my mother broke down to me about how she doesn't really love him and that she is still in love with my father.
I want to be happy for them, but for that reason I feel like my mother is tricking her boyfriend. He would give her the world and lasso the moon for her, he's the kindest person who wouldn't hesitate to help when someone is in trouble and he has worked really hard to build a good relationship with me and my siblings.
I know that mom hasn't opened up about these feelings to him, and it feels to me like she's playing him. However, this is not up to me and how I feel so I can't do much about it. I just hope that they will both end up happy.
So the part that I need advice on is that I feel really uncomfortable to be bridesmaid for my mother. I will of course attend, but I don't want to be up there when I know what I know. I also have general stage fright and social anxiety.
I want to tell her I don't want to be a bridesmaid but my mother has tendencies to blow up over small things and paint herself as a victim. How can I turn her down in the gentlest way possible?

2023.06.09 15:54 krazy_kitkat Mum is not respecting me
My mum always uses language such as “you HAVE to HAVE some OF x” or “you ARE eating y”. I tried to explain respecting to her that my ED doesn’t like to feel like I don’t have free will and whenever she implies that I must eat something I am less likely to eat it. I asked her to either say “x is for dinner tonight” because then 1. I am more likely to NOT FIGHT EATING it and 2. I feel like I get to make THE recovery forward decision for myself. BTW I am 18+ thus recovery is MY CHOICE. Her response is to shut down or say “fine I don’t care, starve then“. Like she goes from 1 to 100, super controlling to careless. It’s triggering, stressful, and manipulative. I want her to support me in recovery but not tell me what to do and go off on a powecontrol high. How do I deal with this? It’s triggering and toxic and not supportive of my recovery at all.

The pressure to get out before the ship sinks is very REAL.
We are in the morning session of the second day of a 5 day test.
Remember these full cycles take years to play out.
People now finally realise that INTEREST RATES WONT BE CUT ANYTIME SOON.
Rates will be much higher for much longer.
People know they just can’t hold on any more.
With mass job cuts and recession incoming, things are only going to get MUCH WORSE.
AI is also taking jobs at an unprecedented rate. I previously hired 3 freelancers to do 3 seperate jobs that I can now do better, by myself using chat GPT, Midjourney and other tools.
Maybe those who sell soon will come out relatively unscathed and can start again debt free.
There is no shame in that.
Many are realising that they seriously over leveraged and it is time to drop their ego and sell up.
They have sold their JetSki’s, boats and cars, but it is not enough. The hospitality /retail workers who used mum and dad as guarantors for 1.5million dollar loans are more common than many think.
Mum and dad are pressuring them to sell, so they don’t go down with the sinking ship too.
A hive mind is spreading through homeowners nationwide “Quick let’s sell while those sheeples dialled into mainstream media still think property is booming and are buying in on FOMO”
Smart?
This mass feaanxiety mindset is spreading fast.
Smart investors are getting out NOW.
They know the normal spring selling season will add an abundance of supply in itself to start the snowball to roll down the hill. This could turn into an avalanche as the recession takes hold.
People about to face the mortgage cliff know they MUST GET OUT NOW, before they go down with the sinking ship too.
Migrants won’t be saving the market. Many are heading back home and telling their loved ones not to come over due to the cost of living. Inflation remains rampant and will for years to come.
The rental issue is isolated to the big cities and won’t save the broader market. Here on the coast there is an abundance of rentals. No rental shortage here. House prices have been flat for months. No spike here.
Time for prices to resume their downward trajectory…..
