Ok, I've done a search and I see TONS of quickbooks alternative posts, but I didn't see anything that specifically references classes. I'm taken a quick look at Wave, Xero, Freshbooks but I don't see any obvious mention of classes. Now that quickbooks desktop is EOL, I'm finally going to have to make the switch.
I have 7 LLC's which are all sole proprietor which owns rental units. Currently I have one quickbooks desktop file that has all of them in there and all transactions are logged in classes with different BS accounts for each LLC so that we can run reports per-llc.
Do any of these software support this or is there a recommendation for a software that can use classes like this? I really don't want to have to create multiple companies/logins/etc for each LLC.

I was claiming an unwanted milestone with this voyage; I was certain I was the furthest below water of any Gojid, who hadn’t already been dead and sinking, in history. Some predators were monitoring their scanners for the slightest sign of activity, though I was told an entire team was dedicated to sonar monitoring in a separate chamber too. Sitting in a dark room with headphones for hours, with no idea what was happening, sounded awful. The supervisory officials and secondary team here got a much better deal.
Additionally, fire control technicians oversaw guidance systems on the bridge. Most of their work was grounded in electronic and digital concerns. From what Onso had told me, this vessel had underwater missiles which were connected to the ship computer by wires. Once the payload got close enough to the target, an onboard homing mechanism took over.
By watching the various stations, I was beginning to decipher bits and pieces from their screens. Judging by the learning curve, anyone with training in starship sensors could adjust to sonar after a few days, in a pinch. Onso seemed aware of most duties, having studied up on the intricacies; I was grateful for his explanations. All the same, it was of some comfort that Tyler, Samantha, and Carlos were in unfamiliar territory too.
“We’re getting close to the presumed location of the Farsul base,” Carlos whispered. “There’s no telling what they’re hiding down here. Maybe it’s everything that’s been done to every species!”
Onso flicked his ears. “A proper database would help with bringing our culture back, exactly as it was. They’re the historian species, so it’s a good place to go digging. They have a weapon as great as any Kolshian tech: information. The baseline for every civilization that has ever lived.”
“I wonder what they have on humanity. Perhaps one or two things that are true?” Sam snickered.
Tyler pinched the bridge of his nose. “What made them so certain we died in nuclear Armageddon? How much did they hide about us?”
“I don’t know, but my ship’s doctor wrote a paper in an ethics class about why it was morally just to execute you for your aggression. They didn’t teach anything good about you,” I offered.
Samantha beamed with mock excitement. “Wow, what a splendid ethics class, and a rousing thesis by the good-hearted doctor! Meanwhile, our physicians swear an oath to do no harm. I’m glad that prey are so much more well-versed on right and wrong.”
Tyler struck a puzzled expression. “I took an ethics class in college, before I dropped out of that shit-hole to piss off my old man. Best decision of my life. Anyhow, there were some interesting dilemmas they brought up in that class. The trolley problem is about if it’s ethical to ever do harm, but for good, you know?”
“I don’t. What’s the trolley problem?” I asked.
“There’s a train going down a track toward five people. You can pull a lever so it only hits one dude on another path instead. Should you?”
“Why does anyone have to get run over by a train? Did Onso make this garbage up?”
The Yotul flashed his teeth with a growling sound, pinning his ears back against his head. I didn’t see why my question was objectionable; he was the one with an affinity for outdated trains, to the detriment of advancement. The marsupial made a point of lamenting railroad destruction when we first met.
“Oh, fuck off.” Tyler rolled his blue eyes, and raised his hands in exasperation. “Your ethics classes wanted to genocide our whole planet!”
Carlos nodded. “And us predators talk about killing the least amount of people. Even I see the irony.”
“The Federation has no redeeming attributes,” Sam hissed. “Guess we’re gonna get to see Baldy’s real culture soon. Then we’ll know if the rest of the galaxy used to have a brain.”
My spines bristled, at the thought of uncovering the original Gojid culture. While I knew that the Federation committed similar atrocities as omnivorous and predator races, it was still painful to think of our real history being flaunted in front of me. What if the Terrans could throw past atrocities in my face, and hammer home the fact that a species’ empathy wasn’t a prevailing factor against cruelty? I couldn’t imagine how it felt for the predators to continually defend their past.
If our past culture was depraved, I don’t want it rebuilt or brought back. We could’ve been like Onso’s kind, killing our own people over food.
The fact that I was worried about our discoveries meant I’d accepted the ludicrous idea that the Farsul had institutions beneath the waves. Perhaps I trusted the humans too much, but it was a rare occasion when they were off the mark. They’d been a reliable source of information, even if they weren’t often forthcoming. I studied Captain Fournier as he presided over the bridge; his words on submarine capabilities left me shaken.
Understanding why the predators behaved with such a laissez-faire attitude toward extinction was a moot point; worrying for them was the emotion I couldn’t squash. I knew the three humans from my shuttle were all from different tribes on Earth. If we won this war and peace prevailed in the galaxy, what was to stop the Terran settlements from pointing doomsday weapons at each other again? Would Samantha and Tyler be trying to kill each other?
There were certain crevasses in humanity’s history that were like a mirror, when the comparisons were spelled out in plain fashion. However, in this area, I wasn’t worried about similarities being unearthed. There was an inherent difference in our species’ aggressivity that was evident, given our contrasting sensibilities. It bothered me, knowing that Terrans were not suited to long-term cooperation with each other.
“Can your aggression ever truly sto—” I started to blurt.
A sonar supervisor barked words in a commanding voice, after receiving a broadband communique from her team. “Two matching acoustic signatures, 2000 meters out. We’ve put a tracker on them and forwarded the data to weapons.”
Captain Fournier clasped his hands behind his back. “Two contacts, 2000 meters out. We’ll log the sound patterns in our database. Maintain battle readiness and prepare to fire on my command.”
With enemy submersibles sighted, the crackpot underwater base theory looked more plausible. Onso’s eyes lit up, as the human shipmates coordinated various actions. I could see a security feed of the torpedo bay, where predators were prepared to physically load replacement weapons from racks. The munitions looked massive, even compared to a predator’s unyielding frame. Other Terrans were tending to pre-loaded tubes, hooking up communications cables.
The wires do seem a little primitive, but it’s stealthy and immune to interference. The predators have extravagant tech, yet it’s only used when it’s optimal.
Much of the necessary procedures and checks could be done by weapons specialists on the bridge. Captain Fournier growled the order to fire two torpedoes, and fire control ejected the munitions through the muzzle doors. Without a viewport, I could only judge the launch’s success from received data. From what I could tell, the twin projectiles were propelling themselves in the wrong direction.
Onso had noticed my confused gaze. “Yeah, they’re aimed off-kilter, just at first. Makes it difficult for the enemy to tell where the missile came from…to track it. It’s like interfering with targeting on a starship.”
The Yotul’s explanation proved correct again; fire control routed the torpedoes back on course, after their initial journey. The Farsul submarines were oblivious to the incoming weapons, and with our minimalist noise, they might not detect anything until their vessels were annihilated. The predatory nature of this sneak attack wasn’t lost on me. The humans operated unseen, not alerting foes to their presence until it was too late.
The cables were cut once the torpedoes were in seeking range; the warheads’ active sonar was inescapable in close proximity. The pings tipped off the exact enemy locations, and allowed last second course corrections. Human engineering was perfect in orchestrating a kill, as I never should’ve doubted. They’d risen to every challenge hurled at them, from bringing drones into spatial warfare, to shield-breaking missiles. The ocean was an old, familiar hunting ground to them, so this fight was both natural and intuitive.
Sonar screens lit up with bursts of noise, painting a story of metal cracking like a dropped fruit. The power of our munitions contributed to the explosion’s loudness too; that level of energy output was anything but quiet. Stealth was no longer necessary though, with our submarine’s proverbial fangs planted in the Farsul’s throats. I could imagine the two submerged vessels being spliced into shrapnel, as the detonations clashed against their plating.
Captain Fournier conversed with the sonar supervisor, before turning to the bridge. “Two confirmed kills. Continue on a descent course, in the direction of those ships.”
“We go toward them, we’ll find the base,” I muttered.
Onso wagged his tail. “We find the base, we save the Yotul. We rid ourselves of their influence once and for all!”
Samantha raised an eyebrow. “Assuming they don’t wipe digital data or blow up the base, when all is lost. They love scorched earth, lightly suggested by the whole exterminator hoopla. Better destroyed than used by predators.”
“You are irony-poisoned.” Carlos shook his head lightly. “We get to the Archives, and we find what we can. Even if they wipe servers, who says our techies can’t recover it?”
Our submarine descended ever deeper, pressing ahead toward the real Farsul Archives. Talsk’s moon was falling above us, and space fleets were clashing around the deorbiting body. All the same, the real battle was a handful of stealth ships here, dishing out silent strikes. We remained vigilant for other enemies, knowing we were close to the base’s suspected location. If they spotted us first, then they would have a chance to strike before we could.
Is there any way to defend against an oncoming torpedo, if the Farsul have such weapons? It seems like you never sense them coming, and you can’t…look out a window.
Captain Fournier pursed his lips. “Sweep the area with an active sonar ping. We need to get a read on the terrain and hopefully, the base’s exact location.”
The sonar supervisor relayed the orders, and Onso tensed up a little. The Yotul whispered to me that active pings gave away our position, by transmitting our own sound into the water. However, sailing blind into unknown territory could end us crashing, or missing the base altogether. We had to hold our breath, and pray the Farsul wouldn’t pick us up. Their capabilities were unknown, but they must possess listening devices for deep-water travel to be possible.
Knowing that we were more than a thousand meters below water, I didn’t want to find out what would happen to us if the ship imploded. It was impressive that it wasn’t crushed by the outside pressure already, come to think of it. At this depth, atmospheric pressure couldn’t be suitable for land lifeforms. That was a fear I didn’t need to dwell on.
The acoustic energy illuminated the terrain for our sightless submarine, allowing the predators to map their surroundings. I listened to the bridge chatter, as they scrambled to classify nearby points of interest. Echo sounding confirmed we were close to the ocean bottom; it was level apart from a few elevation shifts. Deep-sea invertebrates sprouted skeletons on the sea floor, wherever space was available. The most promising sign was a wide area of unusual signal absorption, which was believed to be the base.
As nervous as I was about getting attacked, well out of any sun’s eye, it seemed like we’d gotten away with the emitted ping. Perhaps it was foolish to assign human competence to the Farsul. Why would they expect to see other vessels on the seafloor, armed with a predator’s tech? How could a prey animal even think of using detection methods, which hunted other ships down for making the slightest noise?
The sonar supervisor stiffened. “Torpedo in the water!”
Oh stars. At least the humans had picked up a telltale propulsion system from the torpedo, but that meant the Farsul knew we were here. While there were other UN submarines en route, none were flanking us or backing us up. The predators better have some insane defensive tactics, or we would wind up in a million pieces. I didn’t like the prospect of my lungs being crushed.
“Brace yourselves for inbound munitions!” Captain Fournier growled into a microphone. “Return fire toward the source.”
The Farsul submarine was patrolling just shy of the Archives base, and wasn’t, to our knowledge, joined by any comrades. While taking immediate defensive steps, the Terrans dubiously focused on getting their own torpedo into the water. Skepticism marked itself on my face, but Onso leapt to the predators’ defense. The Yotul claimed this counterstrike was to prevent the enemy from firing again. I could feel my heart crawl into my throat, as our own projectile was spit back with haste.
Our submarine reoriented itself in the opposite direction, away from the base, and fled at maximum speed. The incoming torpedo had the edge in speed, so it seemed futile to run away. I guessed that the munition had limited fuel; even so, its tank wouldn’t run dry quick enough. We dove as close to the seafloor as we could risk, and the sharp descent almost made me tumble down the bridge.
The Farsul’s torpedo was gaining ground, threatening to sink us. Captain Fournier, just like his counterparts in the stars, was cool under pressure; he waited for the munitions to lock onto us. The bearded leader shouted for a sonar decoy to be deployed. As the deceitful device jetted away, I squinted for clues on nearby screens. Per Onso, it unleashed a cloak of bubbles and jamming frequencies, scrambling the missile’s sonar-seeking systems.
“Did it w-work?” I wrapped my claws around Carlos’ arm with the bear tattoo, remembering not to cling to Samantha again. “I hate water. I’ll take death by vacuum any day.”
Carlos squeezed my paw awkwardly. “I don’t know if it worked. We always hope for the best, but no combat situation is a guarantee. Just breathe, buddy.”
Our submersible attempted to skirt the torpedo’s search area, while it was hung up on the false targets our decoy provided. We veered well off to the side, and ensured absolute silence. The Deep Core looped back around, tiptoeing past the range we’d been chased from. There was no sign of an inbound contact following us. I realized we had successfully fooled the munition’s homing logic; I released Carlos’ arm at last.
Perhaps it had been wise of the Terrans to impart a shot back. Our foes were too preoccupied to send more trouble our way; one torpedo was enough.
Those thoughts reminded me that we had taken offensive actions to counter theirs. Sniffing out the vessel that attempted to sink us was a priority. The torpedo we’d fired at the Farsul submarine hadn’t found its mark, as the enemy managed to pull nifty evasive maneuvers. However, their engines stirred up ample noise, with that sudden haste. Though they had avoided our first missile, I thought we had a clear target for our next round.
However, it was not necessary to expend another weapon on this nefarious submarine. The Terran torpedo missed its target the first time, but it doubled back for another pass without warning. On the second attempt, it struck true into the hapless Farsul’s frame; another hostile was ravaged in the blink of an eye. The humans had a perfect sinking score, proving themselves to be the more devious prowlers.
I doubted the Farsul expected anyone to get this close to their lair; all we had to do was poke at their defenses from a few angles. If this mop-up was representative of our disparate power, the other UN submarines must be closing in on the base too. In space, losses and hardships could be inflicted upon the predators. However, land and sea appeared to be their chief dominion, where their exceptional talents put them miles ahead of the competition.
The oceanic path to the Farsul Archives had been cleared, and soon, humanity might begin to reclaim the actual history of the multitude of Federation species.

2023.06.07 13:12 nervousgradient 15 months in the Civil Service at AA and now EO - I feel like I have achieved nothing and I do barely 5 hours of work a week. How can I resolve this?

Fifteen months ago, I transitioned from the third sector to a minor ALB role within the CS. My switch was primarily driven by pretty bad burnout and I was ready to accept a AA salary with the aim of recuperating my mental health
My role at the ALB was dishearteningly unfulfilling. My manager didn't seem to know what to do with me or my skills. Eventually my job primarily consisted of reading weekly reports, digesting them, and transforming them into new reports that no one read. That amounted to roughly 10 hours of work each week!
Despite repeatedly requesting more work, I was met with indifference. I volunteered to assist another team and spent a few weeks training up on their systems, got the login details and... then they never spoke to me again or gave me any work to do?
Out of frustration and a quest for something more fulfilling, I've just successfully transitioned into an EO role at Defra a month ago. But in this new role I have been given even less work to do!! I find myself in a similar situation where my offers to assist are declined, and suggestions for improvements to systems are met with non-committal responses. There are no big projects to do. Daily tasks take me less than an hour.
I was hit with a wave of desolation last week when I realized that my tenure of 15 months in the CS has not yielded any accomplishments of note. I have a fairly strong CV, constructed upon rewarding and successful roles in the third sector and local government, but my experience in the CS has not developed it at all. I would really struggle to articulate what I've actually done for the last 15 months and how it has furthered my career.
Perhaps this is my fault? I naturally incline towards roles where I am delegated tasks and I tend to be quite passive. Maybe the ALB didn't want to overload me with work, knowing my history of burnout? But now I find myself really demoralised, bored, and frustrated.
How is best to resolve this? I am only a month into my new role at Defra, but the tedium is already taking a toll on me. What is the best way to broach this subject with my manager? Is it too early to consider EoI opportunities? Would I be better off leaving the CS? Has anyone else navigated a similar experience?

TL;DR: Cogeco won't offer promotional pricing to customers who are in new areas built using government funds
My house is about 1 km away from a traditional Cogeco cable area (Kingsville, Ontario). They don't offer services over their traditional HFC(coax) network at my address, nor to anyone west of my house on our street.
Cogeco was recently awarded a SWIFT contract to build fibre to the home for our area, and they've just completed installation. The only other options we have for broadband service are wireless (either via 5G/LTE from Rogers and Xplore, or cowboy WiFi internet from a local WISP named WaveDirect). Needless to say, we were very happy to learn that fibre was finally coming, subsidized by our tax dollars (thanks, government!).
I got my notification today that I could sign up for service. Entered my address, selected the 1 Gbps plan, and was told we would "Enjoy savings of $33.50 /month for 120 months". Right there on the website. Solid savings.
Submitted my order and received confirmation via e-mail almost immediately, including the price.
About 10 minutes later, I received a phone call.
"Because your area is part of a government-funded buildout, you're not eligible for promotional pricing".
Say what now? It says I am right on your website?! You even sent me a confirmation of the pricing to my e-mail address with my home address?!
Has anyone else experienced this bulls&*t bait and switch? People 1 km away from me can get the promo pricing, yet my address, which who's physical build was *subsidized* by my own money, can't.
This tells me Cogeco knows competition in my area is lacking and doesn't care to compete (and they are greedy). There is no other valid reason I can think of. The icing on the cake is that the build was funded by taxpayer money.
Not a great introduction to what may be my next ISP.
Has anyone else experienced this gem from Cogeco?

Hi all
Looking for a bit of advice and help please. I have a modem (Netgear DM200) configured into modem only mode, which is using section(domain?) 60 and 61 to access now broadband instead of the standard router that is supplied. When I leave the modem in router and modem mode and Ethernet cable to laptop, it works and I can access the internet. Switching to modem only mode means that I can access my linksys router settings, but then I’m stuck. I don’t think it’s supposed to be PPPoE mode as I don’t have login details and I’m not getting anywhere with automatic DHCP. Any help would be great thanks!

2023.06.06 21:19 vinrar 150 heat feels so incredibly bad and clunky, even 140 would be much much better + other thoughts

I have been playing Rumble on PBE 13.12 for the last few days since the login issues were resolved. Game quality is very low so I wont talk to numbers balancing at all, only how the new play pattern feels. I hope to convey what I imagine a lot of us feel (or will feel when it is released). Ideally to me he would still get top lane/jungle adjustments but no heat changes.
While 150 is fine for your initial over heat (hover at 100 instead of 50), getting to the second overheat from 0 feels incredibly bad and it is incredibly important in laning duels (especially top), turning a 1v2 gank, tower pushing while keeping some tempo, doing jungle camps and objectives, etc.
Phreak wants us to spend more time casting abilities (with danger zone) and less time overheating. However the less time we spend overheating (say starting at 50/150 heat), we actually spend that lull time doing 0 dps waiting for the extra rotation. [Say goodbye to omnivamp/bruiser builds here, consistent dps with sustain will always beat us]. He said he wanted to move us away from sit in a bush and burst someone play style, but he is actually pushing us further into it by reducing the time we can spend auto-attacking with the heat changes, and more reliant on a hit-and-run one combo doing something useful. Moving HP and base damage to scaling also reinforces this - less emphasis on laning phase and skirmishing (lower damage period, better for immobile melee ranges especially mid lane), and more on burst/relying on camping a bush to assassinate squishies mid-late game.
Phreak actually noted he thought this was a buff, but I think he just doesn't understand the decisions Rumble has to make as a low range, squishy, immobile, no sustain, ability based carry (aka burst mage, aka inconsistent damage, aka periodically 0 dps, etc). Yes we have received some %HP Q damage which is great for top lane, but nothing else important has changed, there is no world we can stand in front of enemy front line in a teamfight and Q them like he said he wants without dying to their engage. [What we already do if we don't have front line is a variation of poke them and bait their engage, R something, survive using Zhonya's, and Flash Q overheat onto the backline, hoping it's a won fight].
So that's the part that feels incredibly bad, the gameplay pattern with 150 heat, now for the clunky part of that.
To go immediately from 0 to 100 heat you cast a variation of QW, E, E, QW for 40 + 10 + 10 + 40 = 100. No ability goes to waste, movement/kiting/spacing fills the first rotation cooldowns and all in overheat autos fill the second rotation cooldowns. [Like many champs you poke and then all in, except here we are melee and have to commit like an assassin without an escape ability or like a bruiser without sustain and durability scalings, literally just a small shield we use more for heat management.]
So Phreak wants to fill the second rotation cooldowns with more spacing (I think he imagines something like Lillia who does it with 1 ability instead of 3) which doesn't actually work as we need to face the opponent in short range as much as possible for 3 seconds for Q to do damage, unlike literally everyone else who gets instant gratification or a full AOE like Fiddlesticks, except ASol and Velkoz who are balanced around standing still during their aimed channels. Then overheating in the third rotation cooldowns (which is the major nerf above, especially outside of PvP). It feels like 150 heat was chosen mathematically/symmetrically to achieve this without any extensive play testing, especially with the harpoon heat change affecting the underlying 50 heat pattern.
Noting again this is about going from 0 to overheat after the first overheat, especially during the events mentioned in the second paragraph.
Already due to harpoons being 20 heat there is already a wasted ability (an ability that comes up but you already just overheated, doubling the effective cooldown) in the intended new pattern. You'd think it would be QW, E, E, QW, E, Q (wasting W) for 40 + 20 + 20 + 40 + 20 + 20 = 160, but through actual testing of extended heat management you find the following:
With near equal Q W E cooldowns (either through buying CDR or normal max Q scaling) E becomes out of sync with Q+W (I think because the 2nd harpoon is recharging before you cast, so it is up sooner and sooner the more rotations you do), you always end up with 140 heat (2 x Q+W, 3x E), then have to wait a full rotation at 0 dps, and then only get to cast one ability, say Q, wasting both W and E which just came up as well.
Just noting again, this still eventually happens if you go the normal MPEN / low CDR build, but is extremely pronounced with CDR items. You only have 3 choices now and they all waste time/cooldowns/dps throughout every part of the game: the above, purposefully spacing abilities longer than their cooldowns/normal combos, waiting another rotation to dissipate heat in the middle of a fight as a 'carry'.
In conclusion it just feels awful having more cycles of 0 dps/vulnerability with Rumble's many limitations and then only using 1 ability with the second overheat. I feel like the heat changes are actually pushing away from Phreak's stated Rumble goals in his video.
Phreak said we would need to do some learning and adjusting which is true and fine when thought out and tested, but it's just a lazy excuse when it's either untested or even worse, clunky on purpose.
Regarding optimal builds, Rumble only scales with AP (W %HP is not worth a tank/bruiser build, especially because we use it firstly for heat management and CDR doesn't work well). For Q %HP to be useful against frontline/bruisers with any HP and MR (read: tanks that do damage), you still need MPEN. So the build is still Sorcs/maybe Swifties, Rocketbelt, Shadowflame (or Zhonya's if behind or tanking the start of [winning!] fights), Rabadons, Void Staff, Zhonya's. With a Dark Seal/Mejai's somewhere if you're not dying for the won fights.

All in all
The %HP is great and means we don't have to sometimes do really very sub-optimal builds (Liandries/Demonic), especially when toplane.
I feel the build is still full AP + MPEN with Ultimate Hunter so we can lean into the schtick even further and delete squishies especially with the slightly better mid-late scaling. I'd say we should do better against bruisers with the Q change, but with the fight lasting longer (less overheat, 0 dps issue) they will out sustain or just walk away if we are spacing instead of autoing on top of them.
I really don't think Bruiser Rumble is viable with his lack of utility, sustain, and resistance scalings. So many better 'tanks that do damage'. Rumble does not ramp up effectiveness during a fight like Conq/AtkSpd champs, it peaks and troughs which is not good enough.
Haven't even mentioned how bad the wave clear feels with less Q damage, fewer overheats, fewer early R's. Top lane, we will be even more vulnerable to ganks and poor wave states into bad matchups/early fights. Midlane might just have to give up more CS for roams. With less early durability/dmg and no overheat kill at level 2->3, maybe unplayable at high ranks due to the risks?
Please revert the heat changes, it flows perfectly as is, hence the uproar at 7 second W last year. If you want longer fights/less burst and random auto attacks from Rumble, start with his abilities and scalings to add durability/outplay etc.
At the very least change max heat to 140.

Random 200 Years Rework Ideas
Play Style - More ability focused, but the same overheat heavy autos of old. Add some creativity. Most damage to tanks and utility strength should scale with own tankiness, normal damage with AP.
Passive - Remove attack speed but keep original slow hard hitting autos, no longer the uber kill threat. %HP damage on auto now scales with own total HP.
Q - Same with %HP damage (scales with levels), but Overheat-Q applies a Shyvana-like burn to the ground (with more than just a flicker of Q), make DoT viable but also outplayable.
W - Same shield (AP scaling) and small movement speed after a short jetpack dash (dash length scales with AP) which can only pass very small walls at base. Maintains current direction champion is facing before the hop for normal Q or creative Overheat-Q usage. If shield dissipates it should heal (effectiveness scales with bonus HP).
E - Same damage and MR shred with AP scaling (AP Rumble must land EQ to do damage to bruisers, but HP Rumble should use Q + overheat auto), but splash the slow (bonus HP scaling) in a cone behind the detonation with small splash damage (for Demonic bruiser builds to proc a little), should help with farming/trading past minions in bad matchups and kiting 1v2 rather than relying on OP overheat attack speed to kill everything.
R - Width scales with R level (1x, 1.5x, 2x, it's currently so skinny people can just instantly walk off it unless the situation is very good) but reduce the base damage and range. Damage should still scale with AP, but slow with bonus HP. Then it is worth of a 'team fight ultimate' cooldown imo.

TLDR
Rumble relies on overheat autos for lane and jungle tempo and now has less, wave clear was nerfed alongside it. 150 heat is clunky due to the 20 heat harpoon and harpoon recharge desyncing with QW, leads to wasting abilities, it feels even worse with more CDR which makes the overheat nerf even worse.
Tank/bruiser Rumble is pointless due to his kit (only scales with AP, no utility). Changes lean towards jg/top lane but still for full AP + MPEN build to delete squishies on first overheat.

I am a serial lurker and last posted to complain about Dynamic Queue on my normal reddit account. I think the new gameplay loop is clunky and if these changes go through I am very worried about his agency to carry games. Very happy to be wrong about these changes/ideas and for any feedback.

They were also born in the midst of the Clinton administration, along with the Monica Lewinsky scandal, right in the middle of the DotCom Bubble internet boom, during the peak of the 90s prosperity and optimism that the US experienced. They were born during what many would call "the peak of human civilization". They didn't become conscious until George W. Bush was in office and 9/11 had already happened, as well as the War On Terror commencing.
Their unconscious childhood years took place at the turn of the millennium, during the final days of the post-Cold War "End of History" prosperous atmosphere in the United States, along with the launches of the Gameboy Color (1998), and Windows 98 came out the year this cohort was born. Their first vivid memory probably involved something related to WMDs or international affairs in the Middle East in general, or probably watching either Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network or some kids-related program, whether it was Rugrats, Spongebob, Fairly Oddparents, Arthur, Lizzie McGuire, Powerpuff Girls, etc.

They would've caught the dying days of rock's relevance in the mainstream and emo being relevant. Their young adulthood was very radical, socially speaking. Their young adulthood would witness many social movements like a huge uptick in third wave feminism and women right's movements, #MeToo, a radicalization in political beliefs as things get wackier (think of Matt Walsh's "What is a Woman" for an example, pronouns, men participating in female sports, and woke culture in general), and of course cancel culture being a thing. This was the peak of polarization and everyday people became more divided then ever. Their young adulthood conveniently commenced around the time of the 2016 presidential election, being the youngest members to vote in that election. The Trump administration in itself was very interesting to witness as a young adult. Mass shootings increased with Isla Vista, Orlando nightclub, Las Vegas, and Parkland to name a few. Climate change started to become talked about as a problem or major issue by many political figures and talking heads. Trump would become impeached twice, which was never seen before in a presidency. Their young adulthoods would get even crazier as the Covid pandemic came about, with the threat of WW3, Kobe Bryant dying, BLM at its peak with the death of George Floyd, the infamous 2020 election, vaccine rollout, polarization increasing, Russia-Ukraine wars, death of Queen Elizabeth and coronation of King Charles, rise of AI with the launch of ChatGPT, popularity of NFTs and the rise of the "Metaverse", an incoming recession thanks to the Silicon Valley Bank going bankrupt and the rise of Central Bank Digital Currency with the FedNow releasing in July 2023, etc. And their young adulthood is still ongoing, being that they are currently 24-25 years old.
Since they are still young adults, they are in their "core prominence" and their main influence/impact in the realm of pop culture. Many musical genres like tropical house, EDM, trap, mumble rap, Soundcloud rap, emo rap, melodic rap, drill, bedroom pop, retro pop, and many more, emerged during this time period. Shows like The Middle, Modern Family, The Goldbergs, Empire, Power, Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, Cobra Kai, Stranger Things, Riverdale, etc., were/are pretty popular shows and/or cultural powerhouses of entertainment, followed by the MCU. A few folks reported last night's upload as turning up blank, likely due to a bug on reddit's end, so we're having another try with it. Let me know if this does or doesn't fix things.
Who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned M1?
The use of 1200 millimeter shells serves no strategic purpose for my opening and, tactically speaking, places me at a slight disadvantage than had I used any one of my other, more potent weapons.
Mmhmm, they do have their downsides. According to my weapon subsystem computer, I must now wait 4.421 seconds for the shells to traverse the distance between myself and my enemy. Such a stretch of time is, of course, a wholly inconsequential blip whose passing is less significant than the tiniest mote of dust in the vast and boundless lifespan of the universe in all considerable scenarios.
All considerable scenarios, of course, except for the possibility that one might find themselves under the effects of several time-dilating performance enhancement drugs.
Which I am.
I very much so am.
Of course, I'm nothing if not patient. To occupy the interval we find ourselves waiting, allow me now a brief tangent to preach the gospel of the combined 1200mm turret, targeting computer, and ordnance inventory computer, an old self-contained weapon system that bears the simple designation of “M1”:
The most foundational concept one must grasp about the M1 is that it is not an effective weapon as a simple matter of scale. While exceptions do exist, the simple nature of space means that larger warships face a rather generous economy of scale with regards to one’s ability to outgun and outweather any smaller adversaries. As is only natural, I am the most resplendent paradigm of this law, large enough to sit comfortably on the edge of what can be considered a planet and well-armored enough to ram one and win.
Ah, but you already knew that, didn’t you? Unlike the M1, one would be remiss not to both know of and be thinking about me constantly. I can say with full confidence that I practice what I preach, but once again I do digress.
As to be expected from a weapon originating in a period of time in which humanity’s warships were several orders of magnitude smaller than myself, these old holdovers certainly wear their years.
The M1 is not a good weapon system. Everything about it, down to the targeting computer’s ability to account for gravity-induced bullet drop and atmospheric drag, reflects its crude nature as something better suited for ancient oceanic warfare than space. The materials used in the gun barrels are impure, molecularly inconsistent alloys, the computer boards large and demanding. Its autoloaders are finicky and prone to jamming, and many of the targeting solutions fail to account for some of the more intricate corner cases one must account for in space combat.
In a perfect example of their obsolescence, we still have 2.721 seconds until the shells are expected to reach the enemy ships. Had I used my secondary armaments, a pair of megaMAC cannons that fire projectiles with diameters to rival cities, I would not have been able to complete a single sentence before the near luminal bolts would reduce the tightly bunched enemy crafts into little more than atomic smudges with the sheer kinetic energy they convey.
I have not fired my megaMAC cannons, however. I have fired my 1200mm multi-purpose M1s. This is because, for all their flaws, they are good weapons.
A weapon does not have a service life spanning multiple thousands of years without merit. As with similarly archaic, yet still used arms (such as the veritable M1, the timeless M1, and, of course, the M2), it has not survived for lack of redeeming qualities.
As a consequence of its age, there exists a truly staggering variety of ordnance that can be crammed into the M1’s barrels and lobbed at one’s enemies, all of which have been carefully cataloged in my mat-fab schematics to be produced at my leisure. This, however, is not even close to the reason why the M1 is such a good weapon. Much like everything else about the M1, the shells are woefully outdated, the primitive 5-meter long projectiles are slow, inaccurate, and easy to intercept.
However, the effects are quite pretty.
Yes! This is what makes the M1 such a good weapon system! The fact that it pleases me personally and nothing else! Unlike more advanced munitions, there exists a certain splendor to the inefficient explosive mixes that many of the shells employ.
For this sole redeeming quality, I employ the otherwise archaic, dilapidated, and useless weapon at every possible opportunity.
It is quite obvious that M1 was kept in active service for several million years for me and me alone to use their silly bullets. How thoughtful of them! To be blessed with perfect precognition and use it exclusively for such a noble goal as to lighten up the skirmishes I take part in that little additional amount!
Many people disagree with me, stating that no, the M1 was only installed on myself as an afterthought due to the sheer number of their surplus stocks still around at the time of my construction. They are, however, incorrect, as their opinions are at odds with my own (the more important perspective). At least two sailors who have served aboard me agree with the fact that the M1’s munitions are slightly prettier to watch than my other weapons’, cementing my stance as the sole correct one.
The projectiles I have selected to be the first things I’ve lobbed at another living thing in nearly fifty thousand years are none other than a personal favorite of mine: The KP-83, a nuclearly shaped penetrating shell that is capable of sending scalding lances of vaporized bismuth miles through warsteel. Like many other of the M1’s patterns, the shells are expensive, unreliable, illegal to use against organic targets, and, most of all, excessive.
And how salaciously, decadently excessive they are! I love them! To even think of violating the Atom, steadfast and revered, for such a mundane purpose as an upscaled APHE munition is absurd! Yes, friend, the KP-83 is a perfect expression of the absurd technological lengths humans will achieve for the sole purpose of killing, a potent statement of their sheer stubborn refusal to roll over and let The Enemy drive us to extinction, even in the nascent stages of interstellar exploration.
Less than a quarter second, now. I watch in eager anticipation as my shells close the final few kilometers towards The Enemy fleet.
More beautiful than a flower in bloom, more lucent than a sunrise, more radiant than a newborn’s first smile, the first nuclear explosion blossoms before the enemy fleet. The first are the shells detected and shot down by their point defenses, clearly detectable by the lances of vaporized bismuth that sear forward from the fireballs, yet the sewing pin-shaped detonations grow closer and closer until…
..contact! Blessed, rousing contact! My reward electrode buzzes with electricity, signifying multiple successful impacts with The Enemy’s ships.
As the ephemeral light fades, I take in the damage wrought. Whole swathes of The Enemy’s hull plating have been shattered and scorched where it was kissed by the nuclear fire, and I can pick out the brightly-glowing pinpricks of slag from where the lances of vaporized metal penetrated their alluring forms. The afflicted ships reel slightly before accelerating to correct, implying a dizzying blow.
Ha! What a joke! Had I not known better I would have assumed that they had been seriously maimed by the KP-83 shells, yet such a thing would imply flimsy, non-reinforced interiors, like those of a civilian craft! Clearly, this, too, must be some extension of the facade they so stubbornly uphold.
And yet…
And yet…
And yet, I haven’t even begun in earnest! I have a whole second until my volley connects. Whole gigabytes of munition spreadsheets and readiness data stream into my expanded consciousness as I pore over my options, considering what might make for the most efficient follow-up killing blow. Perhaps I should employ my primary weapon?
Ha! What a stupid question!
To even think that I would allow a conflict to end before it could even begin! I really must be going senile with age.
Why, anyone with even a modicum of common sense understands that war is art, and furthermore, that art takes time.
What possible harm could it do to prolong this skirmish by a few mere hours, or perhaps days? None, of course! It would be unbecoming of my eminence to be a bad sport in war by ending the conflict too early, after all.
The Enemy’s fleet becomes illuminated, if only for a second, by the muzzle flashes of their cannons as they attempt to emulate my opening volley. How laudatory! I’m flattered that they hold me in such high regard as to mimic my opening attack.
Why, I’m so impressed that I’ve begun to entertain the notion of allowing their shells to land on me as a statement of thanks. Such a thought is aborted, of course, the moment I realize such an attack could harm the beautiful luster of my paint. I shudder to even conceive of such a horrible fate.
Unfortunately for The Enemy’s crude emulations of my tactics, naval warfare no longer exists in the age of the broadside, nor has it for several millions of years. I spool up my short-range jump drives— all thirty two of the apartment-block sized mechanisms— prepare my drone bays, and order another volley of KP-83 shells to be loaded into my M1s.
The Enemy’s shells, accompanied by a wave of missiles, hurdle the final few kilometers towards my surface before they-
THOOM
-detonate, filling the empty space where I had been just a moment prior with nuclear explosions of the mundane variety.
Why tolerate a risk to my vanity when I could instead expend the charge in one of my jump drives to simply vanish from the area? Of course, positioning myself above them on the stellar plane is certainly a tangible side effect of preserving my good looks.
I elect to release a swarm of stiletto hunter-killer corvette drones as an opening move, supplemented with a volley of 320 anti-ship missiles and yet another volley of 1200 millimeter nuclear shaped charge shells.
Much like my previous volley, this provides little tactical advantage whatsoever, instead fulfilling the exalted role of entertaining me.
While agile, the apartment block-sized drones are woefully frail, occasionally dwarfed by some of The Enemy’s (historic) munitions. Still, they serve well as harassment and defense fodder for more worthwhile projectiles. The anti-ship missiles are fast, yet once again, their scale reserves them better to maiming and euthanizing already shattered craft. I have already spoken on my beloved 1200 mm cannons.
The Enemy are quick to turn themselves and loose another volley. Rather than attempt another short-range jump, I elect to yaw upward and accelerate away from the incoming projectiles.
Alas, the shells reach me before I can complete my maneuver. I ignore them even as they close in, opting to continue my acceleration.
Unopposed, The Enemy’s munitions hurdle towards my perfect hull before-
BRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrT
-they pass the invisible threshold dictating the minimum engagement range for my point defense weapons and are swiftly obliterated by well-placed streams of 120 millimeter high impact rounds.
I did say I’d rather my paint go unmarred, did I not?
My anti-ship missiles are the first to arrive at The Enemy, honing greedily towards their still hot missile bays and cannon housings. They answer with interceptors of their own, yet the miserable defenses are neither fast nor potent enough to pose a worthy barrier to the entire volley of missiles. As the thirty two surviving hypersonic projectiles smash violently into The Enemy’s foremost craft, my drones warp into their formation and begin peppering their engines and sensory structures with their miniMAC emplacements.
The Enemy responds predictably, directing much of their fire, as well as every close-in weapon, into slaughtering the trespassing craft.
Just in time for the second volley of nuclear shaped charge shells to kiss The Enemy’s hulls unopposed. Two hundred and thirty seven shells successfully detonate, with one going off in the barrel (tragic, but unexpected with the finicky munition) and two experiencing failures of their fuze assemblies, exploding as dirty bombs.
How spectacular! How dazzling! A perfect display of timing, predictive acumen, and raw, unfettered talent by myself! How I’ve dearly missed the ability to demonstrate my impeccable skill!
My thoughts go hazy with euphoria as my reward system detects a successfully executed multi-step tactic and responds accordingly. I push against the incoherence, refusing to allow my concentration to wane for even an instant.
THOOM.
Having long completed my maneuver and weapon preparation, I allow my short-range jump drives to propel me in-line with The Enemy’s formation. Even before the exotic particles disperse from obfuscating my sensor data, I fire my conventional magnetic railguns, relying solely on my predictions to guide the projectiles.
Forty-eight railroad car-sized superluminal bolts of iron illuminate the void with their streaks as they tear through space, with thirty-one instantly shattering The Enemy’s ships with their absurd kinetic energy. I curse myself for my sloppiness, yet my MACs were not the reason for such a maneuver.
No, that honor would belong to my tertiary armaments: two truly titanic Gamma Ray emitters, placed in an over-under arrangement on my bow. Half an instant later, after my targeting sensors regain the clarity lost from my recent jump, the twin arrays activate.
Their wires thrum with unfathomable voltages as the emitters begin to exude their deadly radiation, the titanic servos emitting an audible whine as they threaten to give under the stress of pitching and yawing their sports field-sized lenses at absurd speeds, yet hold firmly.
Though the beam itself is invisible, even to my broadband sensors, the effects are quite the opposite. Crafts caught in the scything beam begin to shrivel and carbonize as their reflective hull coatings are overwhelmed, their interiors begin to slush as the metal making them up loses consistency.
Though it lasted only a second, the damage is immense with nearly every sufficiently small craft in their cone of fire burnt away instantaneously.
THOOM.
I jump once again.

2023.06.06 10:40 bellesavage Coping with confusing and difficult emotions - strategy I've found helpful

I've had a lot of difficult and conflicting feelings as I process and heal from narcissistic abuse and wanted to share a strategy for coping and resolving them that's been really valuable for me in case it helps you too. I've found journaling to be a really helpful tool for processing the emotions so they don't hang around long term and for regaining my sense of self, but (according to my therapist) I do it a bit differently than others.
I do a sort of mix of steam of consciousness writing with probing questions sprinkled in. So I'll write out what I'm thinking and feeling with no filter until I hit a natural stopping point. Then I pause and find a question that helps me get deeper into it. It might be something like how does this feeling serve me or protect me? Or what experiences have I had as a kid that made me feel like this? What would I like to see happen if I had a magic wand and could decide? What is this feeling trying to tell me? What does this feeling want me to do?
Then I write again until I hit another stopping point. Usually before each stopping point there's a visceral change in how I feel, often a sense of relief. Many times I'll have a big cry while I'm writing/ processing, or a big wave of another emotion that takes the writing in a new direction.
My goal is to understand my feelings as fully as I can and then to identify what needs they are trying to serve so I can choose a more helpful way to meet that need. Sometimes I do visualisation of me handling the situation differently with the knowledge I now have, kinda rewriting history mentally to allow my brain/ body to feel it's resolved. Sometimes I recognise a need that requires more physical action, like going for a run or doing a specific activity so I make a plan to do that activity asap.
Also of note, I type my journaling cause I'm much faster at typing than hand writing and it allows me to search old journals if I want to find something specific later. Very handy for the moments of self doubt about what happened, I can go see what I wrote at the time and validate my memory. I don't deliberately lie to myself in general and I'm brutally honest about my worst thoughts and feelings in my journal so I trust that it's as accurate as anything can be when it's from one person's perspective.
Important note: if you're doing this where your narc can access your computer etc be very careful about either using coded language or saving it somewhere they can't access that requires 2 factor authentication to login. Don't do it on a shared device or one they have access to. It will be a disaster if they find your honest personal thoughts about how they're behaving and could put you in significant danger depending on the content and their reaction to it.
Might be worth a shot if you're feeling stuck. Emotions are there to communicate information to us, so find your way to really hear the message and the feelings will usually resolve.

Atm I'm at ulquiorra / noitra soulbox and also Summer time Event (with Kira).
So as a "new player" is it better to get summon on the soul box (for ulquirra v2 weapon) or summon on the event for the warsoul (220 pulls)?
Usually the warsouls at this events are pretty good, but as a player i'm also thinking about my character rooster. What are your opinions?Thank you in advance

Hi all -
My mother had a desktop with Windows 10. She was very tech un-savvy and only ever used it to reserve library books online, read her church bulletin, or check her bank balance. She still had Word Perfect (!!) installed, with which she was working on a history of her church. She had email through her local broadband company. She did not do or use anything that required a Microsoft login.
She passed away recently. During one trip to visit her while she was in the hospital, I had to use her computer for work because I left the power cord for my laptop at home. I worked via Google Docs in Chrome, and had to download and use Adobe Reader (the free version). I didn't sign into anything except Google Docs and I signed out when I was done, closed out of everything, and I left her computer on.
I left her house that day, came back the next, and all of the sudden there is a password on her desktop. I had sat with her enough times at that computer in the last few years, and restarted it for her enough times (she wasn't sure how to restart it) to be 100% certain she did not have a password on her desktop.
Is it possible that Windows updated itself and then required a password? Or that something I did prompted it to start asking for a password?
Does anyone have any suggestions how I might get past this password screen? Or is her hard drive now a giant paperweight? The pastor of her church reallllyy wants me to recover the history she was working on.

DARK DIMENSION VI FIRST-CLEAR CELEBRATION
The next chapter in the epic Dark Dimension saga is rapidly approaching, with a target release date of June 27th at 5:00 PM (PDT)! Rewards have been improved compared to the previous Dark Dimensions to match the new challenge.
REQUIREMENTS
Dark Dimension VI nodes will require a full team of 5 characters per trait requirement, so you’ll eventually need at least 20 characters in total to complete it. This is the order in which the nodes will require the specific traits:
Missions 1-2: No trait restriction (any Gear Tier 18)
Missions 3-5: Global (Legendary EXCLUDED)
Missions 6-8: Cosmic (Legendary EXCLUDED)
Missions 9-11: City (Legendary EXCLUDED)
Missions 12-13: Legendary (non-Horseman)
Missions 14-15: Legendary and/or Apocalypse
FIRST-CLEAR WINNER REWARDS
As with previous new chapters of Dark Dimension, there will be a huge celebration following the first player to complete Dark Dimension VI fully.
The winner will personally receive the following:
A promotion to 7 Red Star of an eligible character of their choice (from a list of eligible characters)
> This cannot include any character that currently does not have 7 Red Stars available, like Apocalypse.
The player’s name, representative of their personal profile, is immortalized in an in-game environment.
> The name will be decided in conjunction with the dev team, and a choice must be made within 7 business days of being contacted after completing Dark Dimension VI.
> The name must be appropriate for in-game use and should represent the player, not a 3rd party or a general statement.
> The dev team will choose the name if the above criteria are unmet.
The general player base will receive the following:
The winner will get to choose two characters to allow players to individually decide which one of them they can receive 100 character shards and a 5 Red Star promotion for.
> A list of eligible characters for the winner to choose from will be provided.
A community poll to determine two Blitzes that will be run based on the characters (non-Legendary, non-Apocalypse) that the Dark Dimension VI winner used to complete nodes.

SUPER SKRULL
The Fantastic Four have faced many formidable foes, but few were as equally matched as Super Skrull. His real name is Kl’rt, a Skrullian warrior who was gifted the ability to emulate all the superpowers of the Fantastic Four. This makes Super Skrull an incredibly powerful Villain, able to challenge the strongest of Heroes.
The first completion of Dark Dimension VI will grant 310 character shards of Super Skrull (5 Yellow Stars) and a 2-Red Star promotion.
The second completion of Dark Dimension VI will grant 500 character shards of Super Skrull (to get to 7 Yellow Stars) and a 4-Red Star promotion.

New Mechanic: Exposed Exposed is a new status effect that can be inflicted upon enemy characters. It’s a neutral effect, treated as neither positive nor negative, like Charged. Exposed has no inherent effects, but characters like Super Skrull have abilities that will react with characters inflicted with it. Exposed can only be cleared by abilities that specifically mention Exposed. Two characters are currently planned to have abilities with Exposed, with Super Skrull being one of them and a second to be announced in the near future. Multiple characters can benefit from an enemy inflicted with Exposed.
Traits: Villain, Cosmic, Bio, Brawler
Speed: 124
Basic - Skrull Barrage
If the primary target has Exposed, clear all Barrier on the primary target.

Blast off on a quest to recruit Knowhere's ally-healing guard dog, Cosmo! Join the “bestest dog” in this upcoming Event Campaign Mission (ECM) as she leads Knowhere in a high-stakes standoff against a deadly threat.
Each node in the "To Infinity" Campaign rewards fragments for the Intergalactic Orb, which contains Cosmo character shards and certain characters with the limited-time Intergalactic trait (non-Legendary), which you can filter for in your roster. You'll need at least five characters with the limited-time "Intergalactic" trait to attempt the Heroic Difficulty, which also rewards Teal Gear.
The running time has been reduced from 14 days to 7 days, but the first-time rewards, Gold and gear node rewards, and the related Intergalactic Orb items have increased. This is to help streamline the experience and provide a more rewarding and focused daily experience.
In tandem, Korg's Intergalactic Tour is making a stop with the Ruff Riffs Event (details below) running for part of the ECM. The adventure begins on June 6th at 2:00 PM (PDT).

I have a SDRPlay RSP1A with a MLA30+ antenna. The antenna is fine for Short Wave but now I'd like to see what else this thing can do. I found 2 discones but each had different specs. Article Abstract:
Radio searches for extraterrestrial intelligence have mainly targeted the discovery of narrowband continuous-wave beacons and artificially dispersed broadband bursts. Periodic pulse trains, in comparison to the above technosignature morphologies, offer an energetically efficient means of interstellar transmission. A rotating beacon at the Galactic Center (GC), in particular, would be highly advantageous for galaxy-wide communications. Here, we present blipss, a CPU-based open-source software that uses a fast folding algorithm (FFA) to uncover channel-wide periodic signals in radio dynamic spectra. Running blipss on 4.5 hours of 4-8 GHz data gathered with the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope, we searched the central 6' of our Galaxy for kHz-wide signals with periods between 11-100 s and duty cycles (δ) between 10-50%. Our searches, to our knowledge, constitute the first FFA exploration for periodic alien technosignatures. We report a non-detection of channel-wide periodic signals in our data. Thus, we constrain the abundance of 4-8 GHz extraterrestrial transmitters of kHz-wide periodic pulsed signals to fewer than one in about 600,000 stars at the GC above a 7σ equivalent isotropic radiated power of ≈2×10^18 W at δ≃10%. From an astrophysics standpoint, blipss, with its utilization of a per-channel FFA, can enable the discovery of signals with exotic radio frequency sweeps departing from the standard cold plasma dispersion law.

AI’s rapidly changing technology has the potential to transform mental health care and provide more effective personalized treatments. AI can automate specific tasks, analyze patient data, and improve risk or illness predictions.
AI-assisted mental health interventions can identify potential warning signs of mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. People can also use AI to identify potential sources of mental health problems, such as a stressful work environment or a lack of social support.

Tess: mental health chatbot

Another example is Tess, an integrative psychological AI chatbot that provides self-help message exchanges that mirror texting with a coach or a friend. Clinical psychologists built it, and its website boasts impressive outcomes: 92% of users moved toward recovery, over 2,000 chats with Tess occurred during a crisis, over 7,500 depression screenings took place via Tess’s conversations and more.
One study looking to assess the feasibility of Tess to reduce anxiety and depression in college students found it to be an accessible, cost-effective tool for delivering support but not to replace the role of a trained therapist.

SAM: detecting the language of suicide

While AI does lack the insight required to treat patients with mental illness thoroughly, it can still identify patterns and language indicating potential psychiatric problems. For example, Dr. John Pestian used AI to analyze hundreds of suicide notes and found that the most common statements were instructions rather than expressions of emotion.
Pestian and his team then used algorithms to classify patients as suicidal, mentally ill, or neither. They found that the machine learning model came to the same conclusions as human caregivers about 85% of the time, according to his interview with The New Yorker. This model created SAM, which uses AI to listen in on conversations and compare what people say to identify those at risk of self-harm.

Benefits and risks of combining AI and mental health care

AI could be a powerful tool for improving access to quality mental health care and enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of diagnosis and treatment.
While the benefits of this emerging technology are beyond impressive, it’s essential to also consider the drawbacks of using AI in mental health care when making decisions about its use.

In 2019, researchers reviewed 28 scientific studies of AI and mental health that took electronic health records, brain imaging data, novel monitoring systems like smartphones and video, mood rating scales, and social media platforms to classify and predict depression, suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, schizophrenia, and other mental health conditions.
The findings concluded that by leveraging AI in mental health care, we could obtain continuous, long-term monitoring of the unique bio-psycho-social profiles of individuals that impact their mental health. AI is well-suited to process the resulting number of large sets of complex data.
Their findings also mention ethical considerations for AI in mental healthcare practice, such as the need for accurate algorithms and addressing biased data. AI can offer many benefits, including improving the detection and diagnosis of mental illnesses, monitoring treatment progress, and delivering remote therapeutic sessions. But the research concludes that a diverse community of experts must communicate and collaborate to expand and realize the full potential of AI mental healthcare.
