2023.06.09 16:57 ErmAckshually What does your best elemental damage bonus goblet looks like?

We all know how difficult is to obtain a elemental damage bonus goblet, let alone one with good substats. The actual drop rate of any elemental goblet is 5%. Even after farming artifacts for so long I only have 3 elemental goblets with double crit stats, the rest only have single crit stat. Getting double crit goblet is the true endgame.
My best goblet is a Gladiator's Geo Dmg Goblet, with 11.7% Crit Damage and 10.1% Crit rate, which I happily use on my Ninnguang.
I'm curious to know what's your best goblet

Leansque lore ranging from Iberian history to the country's most recent election.
2022 Leansquean general election
LEP had ran a right-wing populist campaign centered on fighting corruption and reasserting Leansque's independence in regards to Brussels. On economics, the party promised to raise interest rates and control gas prices to lower inflation. They mostly avoided the Ukraine issue.
The Left Front overperformed expectations, winning eleven urban seats and replacing the Greens as Leansque's main left-wing third-party. Unlike the Green Party, the FI platform transcended climate change to promise the nationalization of major industries and promotion of workers' cooperatives as an alternative to the private sector.

Leansque supported the Angolan government with weapons, training and funding until 1974. That year, the newly elected Labour Party administration of Domingos Arcand imposed an arms embargo on the Roberto regime, weakening it even further after a series of defeats. On 9 April 1975, Holden Roberto fled Angola by plane, and the People's Republic was proclaimed by Agostinho Neto the following day.
Equipment used by both sides during the First Angolan Civil War, including aircraft of the Angolan Air Force.
Clockwise from top:

AK-47, PK machine gun, RPG-7, 9K32 Strela-2, PPS submachine gun, SPG-9 recoilless rifle
During the war, the MPLA was provided by the Soviet Union, Cuba and other Warsaw Pact states with modern equipment, while the Holden Roberto dictatorship relied on aid from the United States, Israel and (before 1974) Angola's former colonial power Leansque.
As the brutality of Roberto became more well-known internationally, support for Angola decreased, allowing the MPLA to win the civil war.
Royal dynasties of Leansque.
Actually, the tau cross was the symbol of the Peter Dynasty, but the coat maker I used did not have it.
Between 879 and 883, there was a Leansquean Civil War among four local noble families fighting for the throne. And between 1723 and 1725, there was a brief War of Leansquean Succession pairing Spain and France against Britain, the Netherlands and the HRE. Britain won the war, and they installed Frederick of Baden-Durlach on the throne as a compromise candidate.
The Iberian peninsula (excluding Leansque) has been ruled by Spain since the late 15th century.
The north of the southwestern part of the peninsula had been controlled by the Kingdom of Galicia, until it came under the control of the Catholic Monarchs.
The Algarve, on the other hand, was only retaken from the Moors in 1490, when the Grenadan forces there were decisively defeated.
Since the times of the Kingdom of Navarre, there has been a significant Basque population in southeastern Leansque, as shown in a previous post.
By 1850, Brazil had stabilized, with European immigration beginning to take off.
The Liberal Party oligarchy had replaced the failed colonial experiment with industrialization. Instead, they returned to commodity exports, mainly coffee. By the late 1850s, Brazil was the greatest producer and exporter of coffee in the world (replacing Liberia), and the commodity filled government coffers.
During that era, the Conservative and Liberal parties were de facto coalitions of statewide political groups and clubs, with little centralization. The Conservative Party machine was increasingly incorporated into the governing Liberals as that party collapsed, and by 1865, Brazil was a virtual one-party state.
In 1857, President Francisco Torres signed the Law of the Free Womb, freeing all slaves born after 1 January 1858. At the same time, a more functional immigration policy was implemented, causing an immigratory boom; by immigration numbers Brazil was the second largest country in the Americas (behind the United States). The immigrants were overwhelmingly German and Italian, with smaller numbers of Spanish and French ones.
During that period, Brazil defeated three regional caudillos during wars – Juan Manuel de Rosas of Argentina in 1852, and Francisco Solano Lopez of Paraguay during the late 1860s (the Paraguayan War is the biggest international conflict in Latin American history).
Even with this military victory, the status quo was increasingly questioned, due to electoral fraud, illiteracy and the political dominance of large landowners. The failure of the modernizing candidacy of war hero Louis de Lima e Silva angered the Brazilian Army, which took advantage of the political climate to carry out a military coup in 1870.
Presidency of Louis de Lima e Silva (1870-1881)
After seizing power, Lima e Silva announced Brazil would enter a new era, without slavery and focusing on the national interest instead of regional ones.
The new president soon deposed all governors and replaced them with local military officers. He also revoked the 1832 Constitution, reuniting enormous power for himself.
On 18 January 1871, Lima e Silva issued a decree freeing all slaves over 65. While it was meant to appease the growing abolitionist movement, the decree had little effect (given slaves' low life expectancy) and was widely mocked.
That same year, the President became popular among the poor by controlling the prices of products such as bread, potatoes and meat. A cult of personality emerged around Lima e Silva, and popular battalions were created to defend him.
On foreign policy, the new government sought close relations with both the United Kingdom and the United States; the foreign policy of the First Republic had leaned towards the latter since the 1840s. British investment in Brazil increased as large businesses invested in railways and banking.
In spite of those reforms, Lima e Silva's centralization of power upset many in the Brazilian elite, and during early 1872, there was a rebellion which was quickly supressed.
The revolt's failure emboldened the military dictatorship, which recieved a popularity boost. The President took advantage of this to increase the construction of railways in the poor and declining Northeast, and finally abolish slavery on 4 June 1874.
Throughout the late 1870s, Brazil prospered economically, with the emergence of the first push for women's rights; trams and streetlights began to appear in major cities. But Lima e Silva's dictatorship relied more on his charismatic authority than on rational-legal authority.
At the same time, as the dictator turned 80, a struggle for succession was opened. In 1877, the Generalissimo (a rank he had adopted in 1872) chose his right-hand man, General Deodoro da Fonseca, as his successor.
Throughout 1879, Lima e Silva's health gradually weakened, and he increasingly turned over government duties to Deodoro and his advisors. On 7 May 1880, the President of Brazil died, and was succeeded by Marshal (a rank he had been promoted to right before his predecessor's death) Deodoro da Fonseca.

2023.06.09 11:45 becsykav My neighbour keeps parking outside my house

Very common issue I can imagine but this is really getting on my nerves and I can’t think of a solution. For context I live in an estate and with my parents so I park on the road outside my house. Due to the current housing situation, a lot of people in their 20s in this estate also live at home with their parents so there are a lot of cars. However, the spot I park my car in is in front of our front garden on our property line and does not block or impede on our neighbours driveway or property line. There are also 2 hammer heads which are always full from our neighbours cars, including my next door neighbors. It is getting to the stage where if I leave my house at all she will move her jeep to where I have parked my car, leaving me no where else to park except across my own driveway, blocking in my parents, or to a space outside her house similar to mine which she refuses to use. As it is my parents house they have said I am not allowed ask her to not park there or to park outside there house or introduce a traffic cone to save the space as this is seen as “passive aggressive”. I am at my wits end and don’t know what to do every day I come home there is so much stress as to if she is parked there where will I park my car. Help.

2023.06.09 11:33 CardiganDay Jeep Rental

Trying to flesh out a business idea that me and my friend had, wanted to post it here to see what you guys think.
I was thinking of a Jeep/Camping rental service package where we get a jeep/jeeps and kit it out with camping equipment; throw a storage container up top and put in a tent, pop up bbq, could have an option for a kayak, etc. 2 night minimum booking. GPS. Strong social media presence and online booking. Can leave jeep in a seasonal parking garage for the summer and put a lockbox on the jeep and give customers a code when they book then clean it in between clients. In the winter time, could put a plow on it and plow people's driveways.
I was thinking about financing a used jeep (with no mods or small tasteful mods) and using that. Currently I get 3 weeks off at a time from work so I would have the time to fix/repair most things on my own. I've done some rough math and with even 4 bookings a month it can be profitable but where I'm at there are only really 4 months a year for viable camping. I live in a place where there is tons of tourism in the summer and lots of spots to camp.
I didn't include all of the little details in this but as a whole, how does this sound? TIA :)

2023.06.09 10:21 amiablemagpie Foot mechanics and insoles

Foot mechanics and insoles
Hi all, long post asking for insole/orthotic/pain/boot advice
tldr: I've been having some issues with metatarsal and other pain while skating, I've been skating for about 2 years, reffing and new to contact. I use custom orthotics that have helped, but not as much anymore? Would love suggestions for how to help, but also about foot movement mechanics.
full length: I am hypermobile and have custom orthotics because my toes would sublux while walking, and I would be in a lot of discomfort skating. My biomech was kind enough to make some for my skates, as well as day to day shoes but I'm having a lot of pressure on the ball of my foot/all the way through from bottom to top ache, and just behind my toes.
I'm skating in Chayas, moulded fairly well to the orthotic, but someone suggested that because Chayas have an internal 7mm lift, and my orthotics also have a slight lift, it's putting too much pressure foreward. I've attached photos - the heel post has been ground down so it's not a huge one at all, just few mm and then the rest is to fill out for the sides. It's not a full length rigid insole, because it's seemingly impossible to put a full length support into my skates and still fit my foot, regardless of lacing. what has helped anyone here struggling with the same. It's almost solely my left foot (weaker side I think - struggle with left foot forward plows for ex) though my right doesn't feel perfect.
I've tried the arch triangle things, and they just hurt, the gel pads that you wear to cover balls of your feet shift about in my socks when I'm skating, I've tried without insoles to check on weight distribution and the discomfort on the metatarsals (very front) was clear when I put them back in, but I couldn't skate for a long time without them in (maybe I just need to get used to it? I'm so tired of having to mess with skates and my body all the time).
I was wondering if my orthotics need to change, partly because obviously we don't skate the same way we walk - heel to toe, and in theory I imagine our feet don't move the same mechanically in skates? Does anyone know or have any info on this that I could show my biomechanics contact to better create supportive insoles?
my next step is to ask for full length ones, re-heat mould and stretch the skates to fit them, and just not lace the toe box (I have tallish feet ig).
full set up - Chaya onyx, Chaya Zena plate, stock Chaya trucks, (20 degrees kingpin), Chaya jelly cushions (got 80s, 90s and 95s, currently use 90s.) roll line emperor's or gladiators (about 90-92a)

Using a mild soap and water solution, gently scrub the wheels with a soft brush, paying close attention to the nooks and crannies. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can damage the wheel's finish. While cleaning your wheels, take the opportunity to clean and inspect your tires as well. Inspect the tires for signs of damage, such as cuts, bulges, or uneven wear, and address any issues promptly. Additionally, maintain proper tire pressure according to the manufacturer's recommendations for optimal performance and safety.
Inspecting the wheels regularly is also important. Check for any signs of damage, such as cracks or bends, and address them promptly. Additionally, ensure that the lug nuts are tightened to the recommended torque specifications to maintain proper wheel attachment.
To protect your Method Wheels against corrosion, apply a layer of wheel sealant or wax after cleaning. This protective barrier helps prevent oxidation and the formation of rust on the wheel's surface. If you live in an area with harsh winter conditions, take extra precautions to protect your Method Wheels. Consider using a winter-specific wheel and tire package to prevent damage from road salt and winter debris. Additionally, regularly wash your wheels during winter to remove accumulated salt and grime.

2023.06.09 05:54 Decent_Garlic_9921 Aftermarket car audio, speaker volume because quite and not getting full range randomly?

I have a Rockford Fosgate p600.4 with a LC7i and audio control load generators since I have a Jeep. Basically I have everything ran from my factory UConnecf head unit going to the trunk using 18 gauge 9 speaker wire bundle which connects to the load generators right before the LC7i, then goes to my amp then high quality RCA cables and 14 gauge speaker wire from KnuKoncepz that is soldered onto after-market speakers. My front speakers do have passive crossovers for tweeters on my dash. Everything sounded great and full but I increased the voltage on the LC7i from 8 to 10 volts which my amp can handle 12 which is the max for lc7i and when I increased the volume on the head unit, then the volume became quite and the sound is no longer full on all of my door speakers. My tweeters sound perfect for some reason even though they are connected to the crossover to my door speakers. The sound will randomly go back to normal for a split second before going back. I redid all of the connects to the lc7i and the amp then checked the connections on the radio but I can’t get the sound back to normal. I installed new RCA cables and nothing. Any ideas? I can’t figure out what’s wrong. The only thing that changed was the lc7i voltage which I decreased back to normal. I’m thinking since the tweeters use less voltage and they sound fine but the door speakers don’t , the next thing to redo is the negative and power cable connects. But I checked the amp and I’m getting a little over 13 volts.

2023.06.09 05:32 somejerkatwork Soft top v hard top?

Im looking at a gladiator as my next daily driver Jeep. What is everyone’s feedback on having the soft top versus the hard top. I’m not so sure about how well the soft rear window will hold up over time, but I doubt I would ever take the hard top off if I had one. The looks of the soft top when it is flipped back doesn’t make any difference to me. I live in northeast ohio so a foot of snow overnight is an occasional possibility. I do pull a 16 foot flat bed trailer with lumber or glamping supplies a couple times a year. My driving is about 50/50 freeway and surface streets.

2023.06.09 04:17 PositiveEnergyis The Car Data post pretty much proves what the new police report says about the car crashing before 12:54pm, why is Buckeye PD ignoring the 12:54pm log on the infotainment center?

https://www.reddit.com/danielrobinsonmissing/comments/ysupsz/proving_daniels_jeep_was_in_2_crashes_the_day_he/
the 2nd to last bullet point in this post is -
After the jeep is started at 9:06am it drives 23 miles before getting into the first accident, this accident could have happened anytime after these miles are driven but before 12:54pm. Daniel's jeep likely crashed for the first time after 9:45am given how long it would take to drive 23 miles on desert roads.
I understand how the Jeep crashed around 10:06am, I don't understand why Buckeye PD is ignoring the 12:54pm log on the infotainment center and the additional ignitions and 11 miles. The infotainment center doesn't come on at random times throughout the day and record information. The 11 miles are not an anomaly like Buckeye PD states, they are easily explainable by looking at the data the right way and reading the Jeep Renegade manual.
Why is Buckeye Pd ignoring easily verifiable information?
Also another thing that bothers me about the new timeline is the story with his co-worker Ken, if Daniel waved goodbye to Ken at 945am that means only around 21 minutes went by for Daniel to go full on mental, turn the wrong way, then decided to offroad into a ravine 2.4 miles away. After that Daniel decides not to use his phone and just jump out of his turned over vehicle, strip his clothes off and walk naked into the desert without water. How does any of that add up?

2023.06.09 03:28 MorganJelly Party comp help EO3

So I've been playing through EO3 with a party I just sort of threw together, and so far it has worked...fine (I've been scraping by). But after getting stuck on the midboss in stratum 3 (deeplady and deepone) I am starting to feel like I might need to rework my party comp somewhat. My current party is this
Sovereign/Farmer Gladiatoarbalist Monk/GladiatorArbalist/Zodiac Zodiac/BuccaneerThey are level 28 or so
Something to note, I'm planning on using a yggdroid when I get them even though I have no idea how to use them (they are cool) so I've been sort of avoiding certain classes that I thought might clash with them in the future (I heard some of their skills use up a party slot so I've been avoiding ninja/wildling.)
Second. I didn't really pay too much attention to the gladiators skills since I was planning on replacing him with the yggdroid when they are unlocked so idk if they are well built.
Any advice would be appreciated.

2023.06.09 02:10 Flffdddy Looking for recommendations on a replacement stereo for my 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Just want a nice quality sound system that is compatible with Carplay Wireless. It's mostly going to be used with Spotify. The current stereo is terrible, easily the worst sounding stock stereo I have ever owned. It doesn't have bluetooth, so I've used an an adapter, but the aux jack stopped working, and after leaving the top down and sleeping through a rainstorm, even the radio has stopped working. (Although it managed to make it through a few of those.)
  • What vehicle? - year, make, model, type (coupe, sedan, SUV, truck, etc.)
2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. No Alpine system.
  • What is your maximum budget? Prefer to keep it under $500ish. This is mostly a function of not wanting to lose too much if somebody steals it.
  • Will you be installing the gear or are you going to a shop? If a shop is doing the work, does your budget include the cost of labor?
I honestly don't know. I could do it myself. Wouldn't be the first time. I see Best Buy will do it for free, plus the cost of the install kit and steering wheel control adapters, and that seems too good to be true. Would like any advice on that.
  • What gear is in your existing system? (Is it stock? List any aftermarket gear.)

Stock everything.

  • What is your country of purchase? Leave any finishing thoughts here.
US. I've always been a fan of Pioneer. I don't need CDs, DVDs, or anything fancy. Just want it to place music and play it relatively well. This is a vehicle that's pretty noisy as it's got a soft top. My biggest concern is I don't want to go spend $1200 only to find somebody has stolen the stereo when I come out of work. For that reason I don't want something really obvious, and I don't want anything that I will be crying too much over replacing. Thank you very much. I'd really like to get a stereo in there so I can start listening to music again. Would also like to know if there's any recommendations on where to buy. I've always just used Crutchfield or Best Buy.

2023.06.09 01:28 Lord_Vesuvius2020 Will the "Advanced Clean Cars II" rule collapse the auto industry?

I am posting my question here in the collapse subreddit but I am not sure I am in the right place. But hear me out. My question has to do with the rollout of the “Advanced Clean Cars II” rule that originated with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and California generally. There are a number of other states that will follow the CARB rules. NY is among these states and is where I live. ACC II is well-intended and is supposed to provide a structure for transition away from fossil-fuel vehicles. But as I attempt to think through the implications, I have to wonder if the ACC II policy may end up collapsing the auto industry and auto sales in the US and it will cause it to happen “sooner than expected”. I know there are many on this sub that would welcome that outcome. But in a country that has been so dependent on cars it will be a big change.
In 2021 NY passed legislation that would transition new car sales to 100% EV in 2035. Governor Hochul signed it and then passed it off to the NY Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to come up with an implementation plan. DEC then announced adoption of the CARB ACC II rule in late 2022 as part of the NY EV mandate. ACC II calls for EV quotas to take effect gradually starting with the 2025 auto model year which would begin with a 25% EV sales quota. PHEVs could count towards the quota but could only satisfy up to 20% of the quota for each model year. Automakers face a penalty if they fail to meet the EV quota. By 2030 the quota is 70% EV new car sales.
I was thinking about this EV mandate in CA but also in NY, CT, MA, MD, NJ, and others in terms of the effect on existing dealerships in these states. Tesla doesn’t sell through a dealer network but all the other automakers do. Tesla will have no problem qualifying. But when I think about the typical Toyota dealership, I can see a big problem that will arrive with the 2025 model year. Stats from NY DMV show 5.7% of new car sales in 2022 were EVs. This includes PHEVs like RAV4 Prime, Jeep 4Xe, etc. Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) were only 2%. I am not sure about 2023 but it’s likely to be only slightly more than 2022. But with the 2025 model year, Toyota would have to sell 20% BEVs of its new car sales in those ACC II states like NY. But at this point Toyota only has the bZ4X BEV right now in 2023 and less than 2000 have been sold so far this year in the US (source: Bard). They might have another model in 2025 but it would be completely new. They have the Mirai fuel cell car but there is zero hydrogen infrastructure in NY to fuel it. So Toyota would have to either pay a big fine per vehicle, or buy “credits” {presumably from Tesla) that buy them out of the quota.. Or they would have to somehow increase BEV availability and sales by a factor of 10x in less than 2 years! Google Bard says that one way they could comply is to limit the sale of ICE cars so that even low sales of BEVs would equal 20% of the total. This would mean very few Toyotas could be sold until the company could actually produce enough BEVs to meet the increasingly high EV quota. Maybe Toyota would have to increase sales far more than 10x?
By 2030 the EV quota will be 68%. I don’t see how these progressively stricter quotas are mathematically possible to meet. I can’t see how any Toyota dealership in the ACC II states can survive more than 3 years. Maybe they just stay in business on service and used cars? Or does it all fall down? Maybe we are all heading for e-bikes sooner than we thought?
I guess Toyota could write off these states but that would be hard. CA, NY, NJ, MA, MD, etc are a huge share of the US market. And what of the consumers? It’s not hard to believe there will be a shortage of new cars. What few cars that are available will be the expensive ones. So e-bikes it is!
I am hoping some redditors out there will have some insight into the auto industry that I lack. Or redditors who might have insight into how ACC II will work in California? Will this hasten in the end of the auto age? Maybe it’s already happening? Google Bard tells me that year over year auto registrations in CA and NY have declined for several years..

2023.06.09 01:17 Simple-Lingonberry73 Input on how this test drive went

Input on how this test drive went
Loved the look BUT the steering felt loose or wiggly? When I drive my Mazda, if I turn the wheel a little bit I can feel it move the car. In this Jeep, if I did the same thing it still drove straight. Not sure if this is the way big chonky wheeled Jeeps drive, if I have to get used to that, if I can get the power steering to be tighter or what.
The guy at the lot was new and didn’t seem to know enough about Jeeps to answer my question. I asked if I went with a hard top, could I buy a soft top and change it out as I liked. He didn’t know.
One thing I learned about going for a test drive in this is that while it looks rugged, I’ll opt for non-chonky tires. It was a bit intimidating to be way up high as if I was driving a monster truck.
I do like the sound of the mpg for the 4xe models. I found that I want power seats, windows and doors. Also prefer cloth seats. Are those easy to clean after getting it muddy? Loved keyless start.
Will keep feeling out the Jeep for me.

2023.06.09 00:47 HeadOfSpectre One Year Later

I know you’re supposed to bring flowers, but Mom wasn’t really into flowers, so I brought wine instead. It seemed more her speed.

The cemetery was empty when I got there. I mean, the graves were still there and the bodies were presumably all in the proper places, but I didn’t see any living people around, which was really just fine by me.

I approached Mom’s grave quietly, and noted that someone had already brought a bouquet of flowers there. Probably my sister. I knew she’d been planning to visit today and I might have said I was busy today just to avoid going at the same time that she did. It wasn’t anything personal, I just preferred to grieve in my own way, and she might not have approved of what my way would look like. Hell, I was only about 85% sure that Mom would have approved of what I was going to do, but I took those odds anyways. Hopefully if she was watching me from somewhere, she’d at least appreciate the sentiment.

I sat down beside the headstone and let out a tired sigh, before reading the name on it.

Alexis Valentine
January 3rd 1970 - June 9th, 2022

“Hey Mom, how’s it going?” I asked, before reaching into my bag for the bottle of red wine I’d brought. It wasn’t anything fancy, just a cheap merlot. She wouldn’t have wanted me to waste anything too fancy on her, if she couldn’t enjoy it herself.
“Party favor,” I explained, as if she’d asked. “Kinda seemed like what you’d want. I dunno. Maybe I’m wrong. I dunno…”

I set the bottle down by her headstone, before leaning up against the headstone across from hers. I had a feeling that the owner really wouldn’t mind.
“Been one hell of a year you missed,” I said. “I killed my boss with an axe, got disemboweled, went to Greece with some vampires, pissed off a religious cult, got served as the meal at a cannibal restaurant and facilitated the collapse of what I’m pretty sure was a small nation, using a Flower Plague that God didn’t make and can’t kill… yeah. Hell of a year…”

I sighed and reached for the wine bottle, before pulling the cork and taking a sip.
“I know that my original plan was to quit this whole monster hunting gig but… I don’t know. I tried. I really did, I tried! But without it, I don’t really know what else to do. I used to just do all of this because I figured that nobody really gave a shit about me, I figured that I might as well try and do some good before I eventually got my dumb ass killed. Now though… now I’ve actually got people I give a shit about. Deanna… or, Brie, I guess… she’s started going by Brie again. Something about honoring the family or something? I don’t fucking know. She’s been going through some shit, since you died. I mean, she’s been weirdly clingy with me lately, and I’m not saying I’m not grateful to have her around, I am! It’s just… odd.

And it’s weird calling her Brie again! I mean, when she was a kid, you two used to have screaming matches over her wanting to go by Deanna. Now she’s going back to Brie I just… I don’t get it, man… I don’t. But she’s back in my life at least and it just… it feels good. And she’s not the only one I’ve got now, there’s other people. Friends… um… girls… lotta girls, actually… but they’re people I care about. People I don't want to lose and people who I know don't want to lose me. I figured that’d be enough to make me rethink this whole batshit insane monster hunting thing but no. It’s like… I just can’t really stop. Even when I tried to get out, I didn’t really get out. Soon as someone said: ‘Hey Nina, we’re hunting a werewolf, want in?’ I was literally right fucking there! Like, I didn’t even hesitate! They barely even needed to ask! It’s like… when I’m not doing this job, I’m still thinking about it. And honestly, it's gotten to the point where I can't help but find it a little worrying. I mean... the things I do on a daily basis, the things I just shrug off... it's fucked up! No sane, rational person woud do these things. But I do them. I guess part of it is because I still know that I’m doing something good… hell, with the change in management, I’m more sure of that than I’ve ever been before. And the money is still pretty good. But the violence of it… I dunno… it’s not the violence of it that scares me, it’s how little it bothers me. I can go out there, run over some fucking vampires and sleep like a baby and that worries me! Hell, there was that whole thing with that ‘small nation’. There were actual people fighting to protect that place and I just… yeah, the people who I was fighting were real pieces of shit. But they were still people…”

I paused, realizing that I’d been rambling to myself and took another sip of wine. I didn’t really like the taste of it, but I’d be damned if I wasn’t going to have a drink with Mom on the anniversary of her death.

“It’s hard to talk to Brie about any of this,” I admitted. “I don’t even know how to bring it up with the girls that I’m seeing. The only person I’ve really mentioned it to is my therapist and well… I dunno, that doesn’t feel like it’s enough. I still feel like I’m keeping a secret and I don’t like it.”

I sighed before resting against the headstone behind me.
“If you were still here, I’d probably be worried about telling you too…” I said under my breath, before changing the subject.

“You’d probably like some of the girls I’ve met though. No guys… I tried but like… I think my luck with guys is just as bad as Deanna… Brie’s… I mean, nobody died and got their corpse displayed in reisin. But like, the ones I did go out with were just as shitty as usual. The more things change, the more they stay the same, I guess. Anyways, there’s this one co-worker I’ve got. Justice… I mean… she’s great. And I know that if I really wanted to, then maybe she’d be open to… I don’t know, something a little more serious. Problem is, I don’t really know if I’m up for that yet. Like… emotionally. She’s really sweet and everything, and she’s smart as fuck but I just… I don’t know, I know she could do better. I mean… you get what I’m saying, right Mom? There’s a fucking reason we didn’t talk and I know that the reason was me…”

I started to take another sip of wine before deciding against it.
“I know that I’m too much like Dad. I get angry, I drink too much, I barely have my shit together…”

Ah yes, and here came the ‘pleasant memories of Dad’ portion of my melancholic reminiscing.

I had no pleasant memories of my Dad.

Portion over.

And really, why should I have had pleasant memories of my Dad? He was a deadbeat who liked to get drunk. When he got drunk, he got angry and when he got angry he liked to take it out on my sister and me. Mostly me, since whenever he tried that shit on my Deanna (or I guess Brie now?) I generally got in the way. Y’know I actually tried fighting back once, when I was nine. Pulled a kitchen knife on him and everything. It didn’t do much to slow him down. He actually just got angrier… but I remember that when he was coming toward me that night, I was one hundred percent ready to fucking kill him… I didn’t even come remotely close. But afterward, he had this scar on his arm that never really healed.

There we go! There’s one pleasant memory of my Dad! The time I stabbed him!

Yeah… my family dynamic was very healthy.

“I don’t know if I’d even be any good in a relationship,” I said, more to myself than Mom at this pont. “I mean, really I’d just be holding her back! She’s smart! She’s got potential! I just run over werewolves professionally! And then there’s the other girls… Audrey… oh man, she’s really something. She hunts fucking Aliens! Fucking. Aliens. Man, how cool is that? But I don’t know if we’d really work together either. Romantically speaking, I mean. We get along alright but we’re also very different people and I kinda get the vibe that she doesn’t really know what she wants right now either. I don’t know… I feel like it would be a bad idea for both of us at this point. Then there’s Autumn and… I don’t know, she’s a pretty good friend but anything outside of that feels more like a casual thing. It’s a fun casual thing, but like… casual. Autumn’s got her shit together and I get the feeling I’m more of a booty call for when she’s in town, which is fine by me! But like… I dunno if there’s a future in that. And don’t even get me started on Mia. That was definitely more of a casual thing! It was nice… but it was casual. And she was leaning hard on trying to get me together with Justice back when we were in Greece, which was nice, but also… well. I already said my piece on Justice.”

It occurred to me that talking about my messed up love life with my Mom’s grave might be weird, but it’s not like anyone was around to judge me. Not that I saw, anyways.

“I don’t know… I feel like I haven’t entirely figured out what I want yet,” I said. “My therapist said we all figure this shit out at our own pace, and I guess I could be doing worse but like… I feel like I just do things, and deal with whatever happens as it happens. I don’t know if I really feel like I’m doing anything all that meaningful. I’m just like, existing. Drifting from moment to moment. I’m not unhappy but like… I feel like I could be happier?”

I looked over at the grave as if I was expecting an answer, although Mom didn’t reply, because she died a year ago.

I sighed again before taking a halfhearted sip of the wine.

“I’d probably be happier if you were still here…” I murmured, “We’d probably still be at each others throats but… you’d at least be there. And you’d probably have something to say about all of this, even if I didn’t like what it was… and whatever you’d say… it probably would’ve been at least partially right. Or something, I don’t know…”

I went quiet, still staring at the headstone.
“I miss you…”

Still no reply, obviously.

After a while, I got up. I poured some of the wine onto the base of the headstone and left the rest of the bottle with her.
“I should go… but I’ll see you around, I guess. Have fun in heaven, or wherever you are… I love you.”

I felt like I should say more but, I didn’t really know what else to say. So, I left.

I’d just gotten into my Jeep when I got a call from Milo.
I was admittedly a little peeved about it, since this was supposed to be my day off, but I didn’t really want to give the old man too much shit since if he was calling me on my day off, something indescribably horrible had probably happened.

“Hey, boss. What’s going on?” I asked as I answered the phone, at least making an effort to sound professional.
“Afternoon, Valentine. Sorry to bother you, but something’s come up.”
“Yeah, I figured,” I replied. “Let me guess, something indescribably horrible is happening? Just tell me who’s dead and if you need me to gather the dragon balls on the way over,”

On the other end, I could almost hear Milo stifling a laugh.
“Not currently, no. But I do need you to come in for a bit, if you’ve got the time.”
“Yeah, I’ve got the time,” I replied. “What’s this about?”
“Let’s just say that’s not something I’m allowed to discuss over the phone right now,” Milo replied. “Tell you what, I’m grabbing a drink down at The Lucky Bird. Why don’t you head over there?”

The Lucky Bird? I knew the place, it was a bar just down the street from my apartment.
“That’s an odd place for a meetup,” I noted, a little suspiciously.
“Well, I might get in trouble for saying this much, but this isn’t really a work call,” Milo said.
“So that’s a no on the dragon balls, then?”
“Be seeing you soon, Valentine,” Milo said, before hanging up.
With that, I put the Jeep in gear and left the cemetery behind.

The Lucky Duck was a pretty old bar, but I liked it. They had cheap booze, and anything out of their deep fryer tasted like a gift from heaven itself.

As I pulled into the parking lot of the strip mall they were located in, I noticed a lot of other familiar cars parked out front. My sister's Volkswagen, Justice’s SUV, and a familiar black Dodge Challenger that looked suspiciously like the one that Audrey drove. I paused, staring at the cars, before looking back over at the bar. There was probably a joke to be made here, but for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what it was.

I walked in through the door, not entirely sure what to expect, but the moment I saw Justice, Milo and the others at one of the tables I felt… I don’t actually know what I felt.

Justice noticed me first and waved at me, before getting up.
“Hey, you made it!” She said.
“Yeah… um, what exactly is this?” I asked, still a little confused as to what exactly was going on.
“Well, since it’s been one year since your Mom passed, and I know how hard those anniversaries can be… so I figured we could just go out, have some food, have some drinks, you know. Have a nice night out so you guys aren’t alone today.”

Yeah… I didn’t know how to react to that, and while I stood there trying to process the fact that a bunch of my friends had just decided to try and make today a little less miserable, I noticed Milo getting up to join us.

“Sorry for the sudden call, Justice said it was supposed to be a surprise,” He said.
“I mean, it’s not really a surprise. I just… you and Brie mean a lot to me. I wanted to do something for you, that’s all!” She said.
I was still at a loss for words. I genuinely didn’t remember the last time anyone had done something that… nice, for me. And it was hard to fully process that. All I could really do was look at Milo and Justice, before pulling them both into a hug.

“Thank you,” I said quietly, although those words were way too small to express exactly what I wanted to say to them. I looked over at the table, to see my sister and Autumn talking excitedly about something. Audrey was sitting beside them, listening contentedly, and Justice put an arm around me to lead me to the table with them.

“Come on, your drinks are on me!” She said. Audrey noticed me coming and pulled out a chair beside her, and Justice took the other chair beside me. I traded a look with Brie as I sat down.
“You took your time,” She said, cracking a smile and half teasing.
“Yeah, I was actually just at the cemetery,” I replied. “Saw the flowers you left, they were nice.”
“I couldn’t really think of anything better,” She admitted sheepishly, “I know flowers weren’t really her thing, but… I didn’t really know what else to bring.”

“I gave her wine.” I said.
“You just left wine on Mom’s grave?”
I shrugged.
“I couldn’t really think of anything better,” I replied.

Brie raised an eyebrow at me, before shaking her head and deciding that wine was about as good as flowers. Someone poured me a glass of beer from the pitcher on the table, but before I could take a sip, Brie said something else.

“Well, since we’re all here… does anyone mind if I do a toast?” She asked. She raised her glass, and everyone else at the table did the same.
“To Mom…” Brie said, “Raising me and Nina wasn’t always pretty. Both of us were sorta a pain in the ass… mostly Nina. But she did her best.”
“She did her best,” I quietly agreed.
We clinked our glasses together and had our drink.

We talked and reminisced through the night, telling stories about Mom, about work, and about family. And as I sat there, looking at the people around me, I felt… I felt content.

I missed Mom more than anything that day, but looking at everyone who’d come out just so Brie and I wouldn’t be alone was just…

It was…

I still don’t have the words for it.
And I don’t think I ever will.

2023.06.09 00:06 StopMakingMeSignIn12 Looking to Upgrade from my Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X for Elite Dangerous in VR.

Hey all, I posted this over on the Elite Dangerous subreddit and a few people told me to post here as well.
As the title says, I currently use a Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X that I got a long time ago as my budget entry. I love playing ED in VR, it's one of the best experiences I've had in 30 years of gaming.
However, I've found after enough playtime that I want more controls. More switches, buttons, hats, all sorts. I really want to make the ship feel like mine.
I don't know if that means a new Hotas, or some kind of auxiliary device for extra buttons. I currently do not have enough inputs for all the bindings I want, so I rely on voice attack. I liked VA at first but it's got cumbersome and in reality I'd love to play without it. It was novel and immersive for a while but quickly became a point of frustration, missed/incorrect inputs, out of sync VA to ED state, etc...
I don't really have a budget but don't want to go crazy. I guess if I had to put a number, my highest 'comfortable' is a total of around £400 ($500), but ideally less.
I don't really like the idea of HOSAS, as there's something I really enjoy about the Throttle.
Looking around, the Logitech x56 looked really cool but it seems to have a lot of hate for quality in the long run. I see a lot of people mention the VKB Gladiator but that appears to be just a stick, so unsure what throttle to pair it with?
I have a lot of desk space and options to build my own mount/rig as I'm pretty crafty and built my own desk with gaming/extending in mind.
