My MacBook Pro died. Getting repair sorted out was going to take a few weeks during which I could not afford to be without a computer.
So I bought a new MacBook Pro from Amazon to use temporarily with the intention of returning it when I got mine sorted.
However there was an accident with the new one a few days ago and it now has some minor cosmetic scratches on bottom edge of the machine.
I cannot afford to just keep it. And the risk of amazon not taking it back because of some cosmetic damage is what I’m afraid of.
Generally I know Amazon isn’t paying very much attention to returns. But I fear they will be more stringent with a computer.
I submit the request to return it shortly after I got it. Saying that I’m having some issues with it. The last day to mail it back is tomorrow. I could modify that and tell them that I also noticed some cosmetic damage to it as well?
Hoping for creative solutions on how to return it for a full refund.
One idea I had that isn’t ideal: tell Amazon a family emergency has come up and ask for another week to return it. Then buy one year of apple care plus for $150. And then take it to apple and pay for it to be repaired for $99 dollars under accidental damage. Then return it to Amazon. This would cost me $250 instead of what seems like a bigger loss if Amazon won’t take it back and I have to try and sell it “used”

Housing in Florida in general is expensive but specifically south Florida has gotten out of control. It’s starting to get to California level of overpriced and greedy.
Ok I get it there’s a ton of people moving here and the state is growing which is generally a good thing. But if the lowest option for rent gets too much above the median income it will drive many people away from here. Nobody will be able to afford to be a service worker unless they live with their parents or jam packed into a bedroom with a bunch of other people.
We can fight politically. Would rent control be a decent option? I know here it’s been very controversial due to the landlord lobby. Increase wages? Organize a rent protest? Make it a big big issue come election time.
One of the biggest barriers to move in is the absurd up front costs now they require THREE months of rent upfront. It wasn’t like that before and it’s not like that anywhere else. Who has 10k to move in to an entry level rental? You’d have to save for a long time assuming you come out positive in cash at the end of each month making the median wage.
I saw a post on Miami where they talked about the fact that living here feels like you’re being mocked all the time for being poor. It’s all me me me. How can I show that I make money and all peasants below me could never. Wish there was more of a sense of community where people are down to meet, network, socialize, etc. But everyone just cares about posting their $50 brunch on Instagram to flex on the brokies.
How are abuelas and abuelos supposed to live here. People without the ability to move up in their careers. Soon a significant portion of those people are gonna have to go on section 8 to afford to stay here. And that’s taxpayer money going towards an issue caused by greed. I love this state I’ve been here my whole life and want to stay here but the future looks grim. We’re going to turn into California where people are renting RV’s parked on the street for $2000 a month unless we take action and demand a solution to this housing crisis.

Why does an average Pakistani, in the country or overseas, not care about their appearance? I live in UAE and the Pakistanis here do not give out a good image. I get that most of the people here are laborers. But still... at the airport, those laborers have such a deplorable dressing. I saw a guy wearing shalwar qameez, with his qameez completely unbuttoned, literally hanging off from one shoulder entirely and a dirty white banyan completely visible. Forget the hair and everything else. His friends were all similar to him.
What impression does that give about Pakistanis? Those laborers were probably from rural areas of Sindh or Punjab but like... hygiene and personal grooming isn't limited for urbanites. It's basic etiquettes. If nothing else, at least give it importance that Islam has given to it.
I am not talking about skin color, I am not talking about dress. You can, of course, have a dark skin tone, wear your traditional/cultural clothes and still look presentable. But literally, there is zero effort here in at least trying to appear somewhat decent. From their behavior to the way they speak to their looks, none of it is impressive.
These very same people, they go to Jumeirah beach or Kite beach just to gawk at women. It had become so bad that now security has put an almost blanket-ban on South Asian men. I get it, this behavior is found everywhere in the world but for South Asians, its way worse. It has unfortunately become a stereotype against us.

An analysis of the suicides of each sex for the last 5 years indicated that the suicide rate of men is higher in general by 65 to 70 % but the women suicides are increasing remarkably every year.
The number of women suicides has increased by 19.3% for the last 5 years from 3,871 in 2003 to 4,617 in 2007.
Of the motive of suicide the pessimism is 46.7% (31,002 persons), taking the lion’s share, and in ages, the middle-aged suicides in their 40s were 23.2% (15,454), the most.
The yearly increase of suicides in south Korea is caused by the unpopular policies of the government.
A lawmaker of south Korea deplored the reality of suicide saying “If we fail to check the social phenomena of suicide which has high contagious speed the whole of society would be engulfed in destruction. As it has the first responsibility for safeguarding the people's life the government should take prompt measures”.
Nonetheless, by pursuing the big-business-benefiting policy the Lee Myong-bak clique is driving small and medium enterprises into bankruptcy, dismissing lots of workers from workshops, knocking down the stock-breeders en mass by allowing the import of cheap American beef, and endangering the people's life.

This is a dumb post but I feel like people need to hear this. So I'm generally a negative nancy but I feel like South Africans have some control here. I understand we have a lot of bad policies and loadshedding that have negative effects when it comes to attracting and or growing business in SA but we can't blame government alone for this. We need a culture shift in SA. A hustle culture mentality if you will. A "land of the free" mentality if you will. Many foreigners point out the many business opportunities our country has to offer. I've heard people mention there are many things in their country that they have just not seen here. Little gaps in the market that I have just never acknowledged otherwise. So if you are reading this and are unemployed, go out there, do some research and start something! Government is not in charge of creating jobs, we are. Just from a quick Google search 99% of all business in the US are SME's whereas in SA that number is at 37%. The literal backbone of the American economy is small business and it's the same in Europe.
