2023.06.09 15:40 Old_Armadillo6369 Does anyone know this book?
I've read a book series like few years ago, I can't seem to remember the name. It was about a girl and a boy, a good adventure. I don't remember the story that much but I do remember that at the end of one book, a treasure chest was given, and to open it the password has to be typed. The female lead recalls the quote "As above , so below" and she puts AS and SO as password like a combination lock.

2023.06.09 15:39 DisorganisedPigeon If you booked a holiday and broke up, who should pay for it?
When we were borderline breaking up at the start of May, she was expecting me to pay half and when I said no because she was the one wanting the breakup she teared up and called me manipulative/toxic and walked off. I felt so guilty so ran after her. I shut myself off for a couple of days as she tried contacting me and we made up over the phone
For the rest of May we were great, excited for our holiday until a disagreement a couple of weeks ago when she said she felt drained and wanted to break up properly.
She said she’ll pay the £1,200 in full and that I don’t have to worry.
I believe whoever breaks it off has to live with those consequences but I feel guilty. I’d plan to give her my christmas bonus eventually but wanted to know now it’s over is it worth doing that and is it fair that she pays given it was her decision to break it off?

2023.06.09 15:39 Alexa-endmylife-ok People who use Python for data analysis are morally superior than people who use R.
I just want to start by saying this isn't meant to personally attack anyone, it's just my opinion.
Python mercilessly trumps R when it comes to data analysis - leaving it in the dust of irrelevance. Python's general-purpose nature, backed by POWERFUL libraries like Pandas & NumPy, combined with its adoption in various industries solidifies its superior over the antiquated R language.
First. Python's general-purpose/wide capabilities nature gives it a massive edge that R could only dream of. Sure - R may have been designed SPECIFICALLY for statistical computing, but this just goes to show how morally corrupt people who claim it is better than python analytics actually are. Python effortlessly handles not just data analysis, but also a vast array of other tasks. This means Python's versatility says you can work on data manipulation, machine learning, web development, or even a robot army - all within ONE language. People who limit themselves to the wishy-washy R language do not have a conscience & truly wish to make the world harder for everyone else.
Second. Python has extensive libraries like Pandas & NumPy. These deliver knockout blows to R's feeble attempts to keep up. Panda offers an extremely powerful & intuitive framework for data manipulation/analysis. This makes doing complex tasks a breeze. NumPy, while extremely efficient for numerical calculation, leaves the SLOW & SLUGGISH R's calculations trailing far behind. These libraries, combined with a massive growing ecosystem of tools & packages, alone, proves that people who prefer R are just naysayers & wouldn't know a good idea if it hit them in the head.
Last. Python's widespread adoption in the data analysis industry is the final nail in R's coffin. Looking at startups to tech giants - Python dominates the data analysis landscape. Data scientists, developers, & researches all consistently use python analytics to perform their daily work. Ask yourself. Why would these experts in these fields be using Python rather than R? It's a silly, rhetorical question clearly (I don't expect R users to know what rhetorical means - it means I am not actually asking a question).
Choosing R is like willingly isolating yourself on a desolate island, refusing to use even a rock attached to a stick because it is too advanced technology.

2023.06.09 15:38 oldbay410 Unlocked repressed trauma after opening up more recent trauma
I wanted to share a post and my experience. I shared a post a few months ago talking about my trauma and ptsd which recently I've found has been I bigger part of my life than I ever realized.
I was diagnosed with ptsd at age 24 (33now)after a particularly bad incident. I experienced alot of trauma between age 20-28 as a firefighter, wide range of fatalities and tragic calls... up until 24 I was naive and kinda just went with the "suck it up, get over it attitude" that was prevalent, still probably is.
I'll keep the incident that led to my diagnosis short as I have a previous post about it on this sub. Basically I responded to an motor vehicle collision, car vs a dump truck with 2 patients pinned In the car and on fire upon arrival. Both were fatalities and dead before arrival. It was pretty horrific. Alot of bad things were absorbed mentally but keeping it short the main parts were: fearing for my life as the dumptruck was hauling a flammable material, being on the hoseline and feeling I was hurting the ppl inside and the goriness of everything including noticing body parts in the roadway after the fire was out. I did have anger afterwards as well after being let down by my crew in some ways on scene.
This was one of many traumas in my 20s but this one seemed not only worse than others but happened probably at a breaking point of already dealing with many previous. I was urged into therapy some time after. By this time in my life I've experienced serious substance abuse and bi polar issues. I gave up on therapy eventually being frustrated on my therapist insisting on started with childhood and spending what was my opinion too much time on it
By age 28 I ended up with my mental health and everything deteriorating. Ended up in a full blown psychosis losing everything, job, family, friends etc.
I eventually made good headway in recovery atleast in regards to addiction and bipolar but still suffering with ptsd and honestly avoiding therapy.
Fast forward to this past February something happened in regards to trauma I never saw coming:
I started a new job and it was located very close in vicinity to where I was a firefighter. Quickly I noticed there was no way to work without passing previous accident scenes. It started with being conscious of it to worried and eventually it got to a point of having constant flashbacks for several days. I experience flashbacks at times but never like this. It got to a point where I was pretty much just having them on and off all day. It was mostly flashbacks to trauma but also I was remembering things from that period I haven't thought about or really remember, some memories not necessarily good or bad. It got to a point I couldn't concentrate at work.
I was in a bad place and reached out to a friend my ex because I new I could trust her. We dated a long time and most of the period of my trauma and a while afterwards. We talked a few times and she said if it helped I could write or type anything I wanted to get out if we couldn't talk on the phone. I started getting stuff out typing and it got to the point where it truly felt like memories were flooding out of me.
Eventually repressed memories came out from trauma I wasnt at this point unaware of. A flood of childhood trauma memories came out. I typed these to myself but shared that they were present with my ex. It was alot that came out and honestly when they first flooded out I didn't feel much. They kind of flooded out and I typed them out but eventually alot of pain and distress came from them.
By this point it kinda went from flashbacks to bi polar mania and probably psychosis. This is when my life turned trainwreck pretty quick. It was a really bad month or so but I stayed sober and somehow pulled out of it and am getting back on my feet now. This is the first time I've had a mental health crisis and not completely self destructed.
I wanted to share this because it's something I never saw coming. I finally started seeking out therapy which has been long over due, I'm working closely with my psychiatrist and working on a referral for a therapist.
I also wanted to share this because in my previous post I kinda bashed that therapist from years ago for spending time trying to work on childhood in therapy. I realize after all this she probably knew what she was doing and probably even saw something.
I'm eager for therapy and ready. I'm going to trust the process and see what happens but I'm kinda curious/unsure how they go about two different types of trauma at very different stages of life?

2023.06.09 15:38 foxlover93 Problems with Jabra 65T Active
I've loved my Jabra 65T's since I got them, but recently I've been running into problems
My headset could be in the case for hours or days, and it never seems to have a 100% charge. As an example I pulled them out yesterday and it said "Low Battery", showing 10-20%, even though it's been charging. I tried resetting my case, I've cleaned my headphone ports pretty well imo (perhaps I need to be more thorough). Originally, I thought it was cause the case wasn't staying completely closed? I could push on the lid and it would close just a bit more so I wrapped my case up with elastic bands to try and keep a good connection on the charge ports. I bought these headphones in and around when the 75T's were announced
I've had my headphones plugged in at one point for well over 2H+ and it still showed a slow green blink saying its charging but it doesn't seem to hold a charge? Or perhaps my case isn't able to charge my headphones anymore? Looking for any aid/advice to troubleshoot the issue. I'd love to keep these but it might be time to upgrade =<

2023.06.09 15:38 wallitv First time traveler looking for tips
Okay so my last post was a bit too vague i suppose. Thats on me!
I am looking for any and all advice you are willing to offer to me. What is the cheapest but best packing products youve experienced? What are some good tips on fitting everything into a carry on and personal item, or should i just go with a check bag? Or do all three? Anything random tidbit you would recommend?
Some context: I will be traveling from USA to UK for 3 weeks. Im going to be visiting my gf and her family, staying in a caravan (its a mobile home but they kept calling it a caravan). Ive never flown outside of the US before and the one time i was on a plane i was like 7 and it was for a wedding in Vermont so my experience with travel has never really reached out of the state i live in.
I can imagine we will be walking around a lot, i already have a small messenger bag i take with me everywhere that i use as a purse so that is the only piece of luggage i have atm. The trip is two months from now so i dont have too many detail on what we will be doing but there has been talk of going to the beach, aquarium, museums, and restaurants. There is apparently a washer and dryer so i assume i should pack for like a week and a half and reuse my clothes, yeah?
Im really just looking for tips and advice in general, sorry for the confusion in my last post. Lmk what else im missing and ill try to fill it in in the comments.

2023.06.09 15:38 hereticallyeverafter Dear Shea, I haven't forgotten you & sorry for making things weird
Long time listener, first time caller; mobile formatting, sorry for typos, etc etc
Dear Shea: I know you probably don't remember me at all, or if you do, maybe it's hazy. I'm not sure how I ranked to you in order of importance. It's been a long time since UTC, which I guess makes this worse, because I'm still sentimental over this.
Basically, I wanted to say I still remember you. I wish I could say this to you personally, but you were the only person who was kind to me at a time when I had no one. My relationship was falling apart, I was in an abusive, destructive household, "friends" had abandoned me- so many times before class I had been crying in my car, but I came anyway just because I looked forward to seeing you because you were so nice to me, and I don't really know why.
And that sort of leads me to my fuck-up, or as I perceive it anyway. Readers, I did something very horribly stupid.
It was nearing the cut-off for dropping, and I imagine he had higher-level priorities because he stopped coming to the class as regularly, so during a presentation, I sort of noticed his email address on a slide. I thought we were good enough friends at this point that I could explain my motivations after or How or whatever, but, um I was wrong.. lol... I know now, looking back, it's pretty bad firm to email someone out of the blue, but my my internal justification was "I'm losing everybody I care about right now, I don't want to lose him to", and I don't remember exactly what I said, but it was to that effect.
Keep in mind, I hadn't told him what was going on with me, so, out of the blue, I'm sure I made things weird and hastened his exit and fulfilling the very thing I dreaded.
I was so dumb. I wish I HAD trusted him with everything that was going on; maybe he would've been supportive. I was afraid he wouldn't "want to be friends with the sad girl" but that's an unfair thing to project onto someone. I haven't met anyone like him since. He's kind and creative and intelligent. I've never met an irl person before whom I could talk to about my niche interests in spirituality and magick and the demiurge, for example lol
I know we're probably different people now, and I'm sure my actions aren't the SOLE reason he dropped the class, but I -did- get blocked on Facebook (yes I checked, yes we're millenials), and that really really really freaking hurt.
I'm sorry, Shea, for making things weird, for not explaining everything, and if, god help me, you somehow see this, I'm sorry for that too, but I do mean everything. I wish I could explain everything in person to you, my stupid conscience has held onto the guilt for so long. I know "maybe in the next life", but who wants to wait that long?
Anyway, thank you to anyone/everyone who read this far, I know it's not a Spicy Scandal, but it means a lot to my dumb little heart. Don't take people for granted, guys. Always be honest with your loved ones. If you care about someone, let them know. The world is lonely enough as it is without pushing others away. *

2023.06.09 15:37 ProfessionalKoala781 F23/M26. He cheated on me during a rough patch. Now he wants to make things work.
Im f (23) and my boyfriend (26) owned up to cheating on me for the last month.
Weve been going through a rough patch for a while but recently have been making a move to improve things. The past week or so has been really great and we made good changes that seemed lime we were good again, and as a result he’s decided to confess to me what happened.
He said that he met a girl after a night out (he was sober enough to know better) and they slept together 1 time a month ago. For 2 weeks afterwards they were messaging romantically and she was asking about when he was going to leave me for her. He has admitted that he saw her as a silver lining, as a way out of the arguments at home. He told me they exchanged some drunken “i love yous”.
2 further weeks pass and he has ghosted her because he changed his mind and realised he’s f’d up . He has to my knowledge now completely gotten rid of her and owned up to everything.
His reasoning is that he genuinely believed we were gunna break up (tbh it was so bad at one point we were most likely 1 argument away from breaking up). Therefore, he has seeked someone out for comfort as his needs weren’t being met when we were always at war with each other.
He seems truly remorseful and has said he will do whatever is necessary to rebuild trust and make things right. And I believe him. But I had been having bad dreams and gut feelings about him cheating on me for weeks now and when I asked him he promised me I was overthinking and everything was ok. I feel lied to and betrayed. I walked in on him last week hiding his phone and joked about how it was suspicious. We had a row about how I didn’t trust him, turns out he was messaging her and I was right.
I am trying to understand why if things were so bad with us, and he thought he found the answer in another girl, why he continued to come home and try to work on things with me every night for 4 weeks. before owning up to it. I just think if things were so bad with us, why keep it going when he felt (initially) that he had another viable option?
I really just need some perspective on this. I’m not looking for the “he cheated leave immediately no takebacks” advice here because I truly want to consider that he knows it was a mistake and he did it from a place of not knowing how to open up. He has taken every step to give me the answers and the explanation, and whilst he knows he has royally messed up, he’s been fully accountable.
He has never cheated in a relationship in the past, but has been cheated on many times. I know the mental toll that had on him, and he still did it to me knowing what it would be like.
It sounds ridiculous I know, but part of me wants to believe that this could be the break we needed because all the arguments that led to the rough patch initially were about him not opening up and now were in a position where he has to and wants to in order to try to regain my trust.
Lots of hurt feelings at the moment but he has finally grown the balls to tell me, and he seems willing to answer my every question and admit what went wrong. I need some other perspectives from people who have been through it.
tldr: he cheated on me but seems genuinely remorseful, do i give him a chance

2023.06.09 15:37 Interesting-Ice-5900 Are most of us over 40 destined to stay alone?
I am 43, have been single for one year. I am solid 7 out of 10, I never had kids, I have a body that is ready for bodybuilding bikini competitions. I have a good career. On dating website my profile is liked every few minutes for days but very few messages and mostly from men that don’t take care of themselves. There was a handful of men that messaged me that I really wanted to pursue on to an actual date. I did go on dates that didn’t end in anything of substance. Most propositions also are focused on sex. When a guy says “what are you looking for in here?”, that means “I am looking for sex, are you interested?”. I don’t know what women with children over 40 are going through, its so discouraging. Are most of us destined to be alone? If yes, how do you prepare yourself for a life of solitude?

Do you feel overwhelmed by all the pick-up content out there? Are you fed up with endless contradicting concepts? Are you tired of fake “gurus” who keep failing you?
If you answered Yes to any of these questions, then I can tell you this: I’ve been there. My name is John Mulvihill. And I’m here to help you handle your dating life ONCE AND FOR ALL. Since 2011, I made it my mission get good at. no.. Be the BEST at this. My dream was to hit the 100 lays. I thought it was impossible. Fast forward to 2017, I am at 722 lays as I am writing this. Obssessed? Maybe. Do you have to take it that far? Up to you. Point is, I know my shit when it comes to getting laid. And trust me, I’m very far from being a natural. And no this is not one of those sleazy marketing tactics to make you relate. I was actually very nerdy. Virgin until college. However I do believe that my very high IQ and over-analytical mind is what helped me figure out a lot of what I am about to teach you. Back in 2012 I got to coach bootcamp along with the “top” instructors from an infamous company you might know about (starts with R and ends with D.). Here is what I discovered
– Some of the instructors are actually knowledgable but fail to apply that knowledge. – Some of them have an incomplete or non-optimized strategy. – And some of them flat out LIE about their results.
These instructors were promising results they couldn’t get themselves! As you can guess the student would NEVER progress or at least veryyy sloooooowly. Actually most of those students would average 5 to 10 lifetime lays although they have been studying that shit for years. How convenient is that for those instructors to keep selling you their new magic pill product every month huh? If you relate to what I am saying. I want to help you break that cycle. See, my goal is not to make of you a repeat customer. This is not my full time job. My goal is to make of you a legit PIMP and make this community great again. I spent years picking the brains of all the top guys I personally know who literally PULL EVERY NIGHT. Most of them prefer to remain anonymous and are not interested in teaching their secrets. With my critical and analytical mind, I kept optimizing what works and ditching what doesn’t. That left me with.
2023.06.09 15:36 TaijiKnight Is it that difficult to care a little about your product?
The premise I'm coming from - not many seem thrilled about the slew of 'new' characters that are just reskins / re-dos (SL Annihilation, Infinity War Thor, Big Time Spider-Man, etc.). Well good ol' Scoples can only reskin a character model so many times to make it look like a different character, so to me the lazy way out is using costumes as new characters. That combined with things like the Knowhere team making little to no canonical or even MSF story sense, has led me to once again feel like the only real thing they're focused on - character releases - is muddy and boring and forced.
But what really shows is that they care nothing about their game - not quality assurance, fairness (Blue ISO-5 bug anyone?) and certainly not fun. They can't even handle or care about their IP license, the real thing that's kept this game alive.
Knowhere should have had a new character or 2 and reworks (still don't need new character models for that, but oh no it'd be cheaper for the player base!) that had much better synergy with Guradians Vol. 3. Then if you want to force reskins down our throats as new characters and one was going to be a Thor Infinity War and a Spider-Man anyway, how about an Infinity War team there Scoples? Thor, Iron Spider - then yes we don't need another Iron Man OR Cap (but WWII Cap shouldn't be a thing anyway) - a Nanotech Iron Man, Cap Infinity War (with black suit and Wakandan shield) and then take your pick ; a blonde Black Widow, Infinity War skinned Starlord (instead of pointless Annihilation) or Scarlet Witch or Vision or on and on.
Yes it's more glut of repeated characters but you know what - it'd be exciting and make sense and because of that I wouldn't care. They used to piggy back heavily off the MCU, many of their players are fans and it'd damn sure get me grinding. Hell it's a ready made counter potential to your temporarily buffed Black Order in war - oh look more synergy and story sense and reason for Krakens to buy buy buy. Just think a little Scopley - I mean even their laziness is lazy.

2023.06.09 15:35 ChefCarolina Updated post: Still two follicles
For those of you who remember my post from two days ago. I am still at 2 follicles. I’ve been on stims for 6 days.
He says at this point there is no hope of more follicles growing. He said that if more were to grow, it’s too late now and they won’t be able to be the size needed for my ER on Thursday.
So I guess that’s it for me. He wants to proceed. He said he’s had patients with only one follicle be successful.
So I guess I’m working with two eggs. I have to put all my faith in two eggs (if he can even get them). And I’m over 40, so the possibilities of those two eggs maturing are very slim.
I don’t have money for another round, so I have to now come to terms with the fact that I won’t be a mother. This just sucks. I’m gonna go home and have a good cry now. Thanks to everyone for all your support and good thoughts and I’m sending you all very sticky baby vibes.

I'm on a budget and just looking for something to run some games at low settings like apex or City skylines. I had to sell my PC so I have to get a laptop because I will be travelling a lot. I see many gaming laptops without a dedicated gpu. Is this any good? I've seen some second hand ones with let's day a gtx 960 in it although it's outdated would that run better than integrated graphicz

2023.06.09 15:35 i_waterr_i Looking to get into the biotech space and could use a little more insight on it!!
How’s it going everyone? From what I can see the biotech space is always bullish as there is always a need for new medicine and devices for diseases. From what I can see there are hundreds of small/mid-sized companies that are on the scene and are working to solve all kinds of different diseases and illnesses. It seems like it’s almost a race to get stuff patented, FDA-approved or even the completion of successful clinical trials. I’ve been really curious to dive in and take a look at some potential companies that have some serious potential in the space.
From what I gathered a lot of companies don’t make it out of the clinical stages or don’t get approved, which will usually end up crashing the stock into nothing. It seems like a lot of these companies are just waiting to be bought out by a bigger more established company in the space, who have the proper tools and pipelines to get the drug or device to market.
That being said while I was doing my research I really liked the look of a couple of different companies but the one that I was keen on was BriaCell Therapeutics. From my understanding (I’m not a medical expert whatsoever lmao) they’re an immuno-oncology-focused biotechnology company that engages in developing immunotherapies for the management of cancer. What made them really stand out to me is that they just reported positive data for their main product (the Bria-imt), which seems to be producing really solid survival data for patients with advanced metastatic breast cancer. Of their initial 18 patients (from 2021) 15 of them are still alive. This is pretty remarkable as the overall survival rate for it is only 6.7-9.8 months so it’s clear that the product actually works, which is a really good sign. When I was doing my research this was the kind of data that I was looking for as being able to prolong patient's lifespans is an amazing tell that the product is working.
They also just recently completed a $4 million strategic investment with Prevail Partners. They plan on using the funds for Contract Research Organization (CRO) clinical services and tech for their upcoming studies in advanced metastatic breast cancer. So hopefully they’ll be able to use these funds to provide even more positive data going forward.
Like I said earlier I’m not a medical pro or expert by any means so I would love to know what people who are more into the space think of them and their work. Even maybe just some insight into the biotech space in general as well. I would really appreciate it.

2023.06.09 15:35 Elorie Reddit Protest - r/DatingOverThirty is participating
Cheers DOT folks.
The mod team has been discussing the upcoming Reddit protest all week, and as several of you have requested updates via ModMail, we thought we'd share our decision with the community. We wanted to discuss these matters internally ourselves first, to make sure we were on the same page before we made any sort of announcement. TL/DR: DOT goes private from June 12th through 14th. Mods on vacation. Mayhem ensues.
By now I suspect most have heard about the open letter
and API pricing. Even if it doesn't affect you directly, it will impact many of the ways Reddit currently functions. If you are not sure what this even is, I direct you to some folks who explain it far better than I could. In an easy way to understand, this is what API is
and why this is change is a problem
explains in detail why so many Mods are upset, disillusioned and/or angry, in the wake of the Admin announcement.
To a lot of people, the API changes are not a big deal and might not be noticed. If you use the official app and it works for you, that’s great. You may not have known that third party apps existed, or why people prefer them. Some of our Mod team do use third party apps, both for casual browsing and for moderation. Others don’t. For us, this is not just about our personal preferences; it is about standing in opposition to ableism and making sure others have a voice. Latest updates
If you’re thinking "These apps make a profit, so they should share some with Reddit," we absolutely agree! The issue many users have is the prices. It's near 10-20x more than similar services which means these apps will have to shut down. Apollo
has been the scapegoat in some ways, but Narwhal
have all issued statements that they are shutting down.
Before you ask “why can’t they just run ads to cover costs”, Reddit has decided this will not be an option. Even if a third party app manages to survive July 1st through a subscription based model alone, those apps will not have all the same content as the Official App. Namely, despite paying for the privilege of having a choice, NSFW content will be unavailable and invisible to those users. WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU
Most mods use third party apps because the tools are light years better, and we're not swamped with ads. Despite the hate mail we get, us mods generally don't live in your mom's basement but have full time jobs, families and mod on our lunch breaks, after hours or other free time. We do this work because we care about the community. The switch forcing moderators to use the official app would slow down moderation and force more of the work to happen on desktop. That means your posts and comments will sit in queue unseen longer, it will take longer to get back to modmails, and harmful/illegal content or users may remain visible and unbanned for longer. In discussions with other mods, these changes will probably cripple most NSFW content on the website. On a third party app, we can accomplish in two clicks what would take the Official App five. Though Reddit has made strides in improving them, there is a long way to go. Even with uBlockOrigin and my mobile browser it's tough to mod. Plus you should be aware that Reddit has already been testing functions which eliminate mobile web browsing
, and there is no guarantee that your preferred method of using Reddit won’t be next. (Where my Old Reddit fans at?) FURTHER ISSUES
Some people cannot use the official apps. Blind users especially (but others who need accessibility features) may not be able to access Reddit
have challenges. For blind moderators, it can be difficult to impossible to find the moderation functions necessary, as well any layouts customizations necessary. This is the gap third party apps have happily stepped in to fill, and lived in harmony for years this way. These changes will also significantly impact volunteer run transcription subreddits, which allow visually impaired Redditors to read text images, and receive descriptions of visual content such as videos and images. These volunteers are indispensable to the blind community, because Reddit is the only social media website with no support for alternative text (though they may be working on that). Remember, NSFW content will be unavailable to regular users on third party apps, and yes, disabled people like porn too!
(NB: as of publishing this post - there is an article out on Verge from yesterday the that says Reddit will be making exceptions in the API policy for accessibility users, but no details yet
For many of us third party apps are just an option, but for some they are a necessity. We are of the opinion that pricing these apps out of existence before Reddit has a solution is passive discrimination. While there is much speculation why Reddit wants to take away the voices of those who are blind, or otherwise need accessibility or transcription accommodations, the plain fact is, that flies in the face of the tolerance and anti-discrimination the mod team here has always tried to stand up against. Limiting user choice, charging exorbitant and predatory fees, and refusing to communicate, are all significant problems that the mod team here takes issue with. We quietly have worked to make the sub more accessible (and would welcome additional feedback via modmail
if you have suggestions), so this is deeply disappointing to us. SUMMARY
We are prepared to remain blacked out for a minimum of 48 hours. This means that no one will be able to access any DOT content until the blackout is over. In standing up for the voices of others, however, we don’t want to strip away the voices of our community. So now we want to hear from you. If you support us in this decision, please share and upvote this post, and comment with your support.

2023.06.09 15:34 MellifluousManatee Top 10 Worst Decor
10. J. Willy’s: The exterior is so rundown, Gordon remarks it looks like it’s been closed for ten years. I suspect the building used to be some kind of chain restaurant the owners never bothered to remodel. The inside isn’t much better with its drab color scheme and worn carpet that looks like it was trampled on by a thousand buffalos.
9. Flamango’s: I hate the tacky tropical theme of this place. And how can you be positive about something you hate? The remodel wasn’t my favorite, but it was an improvement upon the tiki hellscape, that's for sure. And Adele is one of the worst owners imo—so rude and mean-spirited to everyone around her, even her own husband.
8. Fleming: The pink walls, old-fashioned decorative plates, out of place stained glass windows, petrified desserts on a counter right outside the bathroom. This place really does look like Grandma’s house, though I cannot recall if Gordon uses that line in the episode.
7. Zeke’s: Despite the owners’ belief to the contrary, the idea of eating in a swamp does not appeal to adults or children. The ugly green chairs only add to the humdrum ambiance, and the tables seem way too close together. Having to chow down on Oysters Cortello and Darryl’s week-old lasagna in that eyesore of a restaurant while Ellen meanders around with crossed arms with a snotty look on her face just doesn’t sound like a good time.
6. Casa Roma: If you like maroon tablecloths, booths stuffed with garbage, and biohazardous bathrooms, Casa Roma is the place for you. Or was, as it closed its doors nearly a decade ago. This establishment should never have existed in the first place, and it was obvious that no one who worked there gave two fucks about it.
5. Miss Jean’s Southern Cuisine: I love this episode, but I can’t deny this restaurant looks downright awful. Gordon compares the lobby to a doctor’s office, and the empty dessert display gives off a negative first impression. The dining room’s green walls and cafeteria-esque furniture make for a dismal atmosphere. And Miss Jean’s ancient exercise bike smack dab in the middle of the hallway is so random and unexpected.
4. Capri: One of the filthiest restaurants of the show. Ripped booths covered in duct tape and overflowing with bits of food, decaying wallpaper, grime-covered ceiling fans, countless wads of gum stuck underneath tables. There was simply no excuse for the state of Capri. I would not be shocked if it hadn’t been cleaned since 1963.
3. The Old Neighborhood: The mannequin in the lobby is creepy AF; the fact that the owners named it is even creepier. The chairs are broken, the upholstered booths stink to high heaven, and the restaurant is overflowing with junk thanks to owner Randy’s hoarding ways.
2. Fiesta Sunrise: Sombreros galore, repurposed menus, and a stuffed chili pepper named Manuel are the highlights of this sorry excuse for a Mexican restaurant. If all that weren’t bad enough, the food is stored in garbage cans and the kitchen is crawling with cockroaches.
1. Dillon’s: This place has to be the biggest Kitchen Nightmare of all time. They must have put the sheets on the walls to hide all the cockroaches. The fact that this hellhole was open for any length of time does not reflect well upon the NYC health department, that’s for sure.
